Brake Fluid

I have always used Castrol LMA brake fluid. Now, I can't find it in any auto parts store.

What do you think about Prestone DOT 3 Synthetic brake fluid?

I don't know. It dependes on how hot the brakes get. Since I've always used Castrol LMA, I've never thought about it.

How hot do 02 brakes get under normal braking circumstances?

That being said, I've been using Valvoline synthetic for almost 15 years - holds up well for track use in my M3. It gets flushed _at least_ once per year, often two or three times, depending on how many DEs I can get myself into.

Ford HD Truck brake fluid has (or at least used to have) the highest boiling point of any "normally priced" fluids, but is pretty hygroscopic, so you'd need to flush it annually. It used to be pretty much dirt cheap, and used by lots of track folks.

Yes, I saw it online but I don't want to spend as much on shipping as the fluid costs.

I'm going to try a few motorcycle parts stores before I throw in the towel.

Not sure what chains you have on the west coast, I find LMA on the east coast at Pep Boys but not at Auto Zone or Advance.

Their site is inaccurate. It says that all of those stores carry their products but none of them carry their brake fluid.
