how far over the edge are you if you buy a totally rusty 2002 tii just for the front struts?

well, i did that today. in keeping with ISRCG rules, it is red. loaded it up in the trailer and brought it home tonight. it is paul wegweiser's original car. unfortunately the body is the most rusted out 02 i have seen that could still move under it's own power. (not safely..the left rear subframe is no longer attached to the car.)

Yay!

Rob - that's an old tii of mine from the late 80s. Massive sentimental value, but alas...too far gone to save. Glad Marshall and Co got it!

I drove that car from Erie PA to San Francisco in 3.5 days. Made it home in 3! In her day, she was a real runner. I ran that thing for 22 hrs at a time, stopping only for fuel and urine breaks on that trip. Hope the dash plaques / decals are salvageable.

Congrats Marshall! Keep in touch!

Awesomeness!

I still have a spare *perfect* 1600 red plastic hazard knob for your collection. ***EDIT*** Oops! I have that for Clay! Stoopid brain o mine always mixing names up! I just got back from the 25hr Chump Car race at Nelson Ledges....things are a little fuzzy right now. Sorry!

No rush on any of it...I'm just grateful to lay eyes on it again! :-D

Thanks!!!

Interested in selling the steering wheel and hub and also the thing that holds the ignition wires in the "pipe".

steering wheel is a brand new momo prototipo...nicest part of the car! not sure if I am selling it yet. i have four steering wheels and will need to sell two or three. just not sure which ones yet...

what exactly it the thing that holds ignition wires you speak of?

No coffee yet response...

You have to buy that stuff for new diesels with urea injection for cleaner emissions. Wonder when someone will invent a car seat with built-in "sump pump" and filtration system for replenishing the tank.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
