Building a TISA engine

Recommended Posts

My brother is about to build a TISA replica engine. He´s already got TISA intake manifold, Weber 45 DCOE15/16 and brand new TISA-pistons.

Now we have established contact with a guy who possibly has got a TISA head and engine block!

Are there any more engine parts special for the TISA?

By the way, I found these beauties at an internet auction yesterday. Quite rare stuff these days! :)

If in your searches you happen to come across another set of pistons and head I would be seriously interested. OR if you are interested in letting JE or another piston supplier make a scan of the pistons......

Dad's TiSA... The pistons are Venolia copies of Alpina 12.5:1 hemi racing pistons and the chambers in the head have been opened to match.

As a matter of fact, last summer my brother and I were lucky to buy 3! sets of TISA pistons!

2 of these are sold, one to Sweden, one to Belgium.

My question remains; are there any more engine parts special for the TISA?

Engine block?

Exhaust manifold?

I know the block is an early 1800 with an 84mm bore and stroke/ bore ratio at .95

Does the TISA engine block have the same number as the car?

Like at other old BMW´s.

Btw, i helped the swedish guy who bought my pistons to find the 5-speed TISA gearbox. Found one in Sweden, $440! Guess if he was happy!

He is building a 1800ti for FIA-homologated racing. Will be nice!

My supplier might one last set of TISA pistons...I will check.

Yes the block would have a matching VIN to the car. The crankshaft is counterweighted like that of a 2002 crank... are you going to use a 6 bolt or later 8 bolt crank? The camshaft is either a 300 or 324. Witch cam do you have?

I believe my brother has got a 324, or it might be a Schrick 328/328.

I would caution anyone that has a TISA 5 speed. The transmission is very fragile in comparison to the newer transmissions. I have rebuilt one in the past and the gears look very narrow. I know that the 4 speeds are prone to break second gear very easily. G
