They're almost here... the Roundies that is...

Well, after several frustrating weeks, we have finally settled on the production version of our LED Taillight conversion kit for the early cars (Roundies).

There were several more challenges to overcome than with the Squaretail lights. More perpencity to 'shadow' within the lens and once we got that corrected, we found that the boards were not inset sifficiently to allow proper clearance once the lens was affixed, so we had to reconfigure the boards once again, but now they're great!

We're very pleased at how these turned out and hope to be taking orders within a week. One final hurdle has been the interface connection to the existing wiring. Apparently, there were two versions of the female spade ends on the wiring harness. The one we have has vinyl shrink-wrapped female spade ends, but it's come to our attention that others (earlier maybe?) have a PVC or Bakelite hard black insulators.

We do not have an example of this connector and need to know that it's dimensions will allow us to use the interface we have already produced. I need the assistance of someone out there with this connector. If possible, can someone measure the outside face of these connectors? Then we'll know if the interface will provide enough clearance to insert these female spade ends side-by-side. Once that is confirmed, we'll be able to accept orders through our website: www.2002s.net .

These 'Roundies' will employ the same features as our Squaretail lights; both Running Lights and Brake lights will be dual purpose and will brighten 4 times when the Brake is applied (defeatable, but not recommended), also, the Turn Indicator will not require switching to an electronic flasher unit (but will accept it if you already have one). We are using the same components as our Squaretail lights, incl. Mil rated boards and top-of-the-line colored LEDS. All hand assembled in the USA. As with our 1st unit, the reverse lamp will retain it's incandescent bulb in order to minimize the price point. This is a Plug & Play system with no cutting, soldering and totally non-destructive. At least initially, these will be offered for the same introductory price as our Squaretail lights.

Cheers!

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

Also perhaps it would be nice to see photos of a roundie with the assembly on one side changed out, and the other side stock. That might show a dramatic difference at a glance.

Cheers,

Ray (put me in line!)
