  1. you would have a very hard time to have a concourse winner for anything under $25K I would think. As always it is always cheaper to buy a fully restored car then to build one. With high end 02's going for 20 plus thousand you can see what it would cost to build one. The guy who can do all the work to a high standard can save a bunch of money because his time is not costing him much.
  2. hey Ashlock if you need someone to do the metal work for your car I have a local guy who is great and cheap. He has a very good reputation from some of the best shops in Vancouver. If you are interested let me know and I will hook you up with his contact info.
  3. what is your email address? akarcioglu at gmail dot com thanks
  4. he was able to deliver a tail gate for one of my old air cooled Single Cab Volkswagens today. Hopefully the racing finished up well? Alp
  5. nothing is as good as factory. when they fix the little dings in the glass it will always start to fog at some point and show up.
  6. I believe it was Pontiac who has developed a caliper that is 360* around the disc. Talk about huge pad surface area!
  7. what did you do with the parking brake? I see one but not the other. I would expect the ECU to be the cheapest part. Why did you go with it over say Megasquirt? What do the guys in Norway know that we don't.......
  8. very nice work so far! What is the EMS worth? What are you doing for the rest of the driveline, suspension, interior and so forth?
  9. someone on this site was making mounts to help stop the shake. I can't remember who it was but there should be threads on it that can be searched.
  10. who is Byron Sanborn (excuse my stupidity)?
  11. I have owned the car now for 3 or 4 months and I still haven't driven it once yet. Mine is a white 74. There was an orange 02 in the infield and another out in the parking lot missing most of its interior, was one of those yours?
  12. I was there also today. Was great to see a couple 02's battle for the win in the afternoon. I was surprised that some of the other cars had such a tough time with these two 02's since in the past the 02's never faired very well in the class. They were walking on cars that a couple years ago lapped them during the race. By the looks of your photos I was standing next to you during some of the races.
  13. I would press charges just so I could find out where he lived and who his parents are!
  14. machining the surface is how the two local shops here do the work. They have a machine that can follow the surface of the wheel perfectly and they just skim a very thin layer off of the wheel to clean them up. It must work because they had what looked to be 100 sets of wheels to fix sitting on the floor!
  15. just sell them to me! I have 2 Datsun's, a couple VW's and mt 02' and I want to do them all in the same wheel. I have the Cosmics for the Datsuns already and need a set for the 02'. The VW/Porsche ones will be later. Very nice wheels!!
  16. check out roundieryan's uncles build. I have been following it for a while since he did an EV motorcycle. Very high end swap.
  17. they are putting the Busa motor into Smart cars in Richmond BC also. With a bunch of work the Busa can be built up to 800 horsepower and bigger. There is also a group who are building the Busa motor into V8's (two motors on a common crank- Radical race cars I think where doing it for their racing machines).
  18. I think they are available from Moroso for different applications.
  19. the car that Terry Sayther built is a 2002 body on a E36 chassis that was shrunk to fit inside the confines of the 02 body. That doesn't really coincide with what these guys are looking at doing. The best part of Terry's car is that he gets all the benefits of the upgraded suspension, wheels, chassis of the E36 not just the motor and transmission. It is a very cool car in my opinion!
  20. I have found a high quality metal repair person in the Vancouver BC area. The guy is very experienced with resto work for many years. His rates are excellent at $35/hr! If anyone would like contact info please email me akarcioglu@gmail.com thanks
  21. as is said above the leakdown tester is the better choice in my opinion. can help to diagnose better what is going on.
  22. emailed you back, thanks but I am looking for the 4 spokes.
  23. beautiful car Shad more pictures please! Do you guys come up to Mission in August for the historics here?
  24. lots of people look for the easiest way out without trying to do something the right way. The right way is not always that hard or expensive. usually it ends up costing you more in wasted time and money to fix the job a second or third time when the crap falls out or cracks. Ask those who have learned from repairing crappy fixes and you will see. Like was posted above it took someone 30 mins to fix all the holes the right way. You would spend more time, money and effort to glass it over. It is not arrogance just tired of seeing people within the group help people with suggestions on how to fix something the crappy way. Instead we should be helping people to gets things done or learned the right way. My garage is always open to anybody in my car group to come by and use my tools, or if I can help. By raising the levels that we restore/fix our cars it raises everything about us/our cars to a better level.
