  1. but it gave me this last summer: broken clavicle, scapula, 10 ribs, deflated lung, bad concussion and a few little extras! new for this summer: 550HP, turbo 2.3 liter, intercooled drag car that should do high 8's in the 1/4 if I want to push it. I just picked up a 2850cc engine that I want to EFI, turbo on methanol for around 800-900 HP.
  2. just some door panels a friend makes...... he is based in Texas. http://www.bigwigracecars.com/home.htm
  3. I will take it if you can ship USPS to me in Canada (V6P 2H7 Vancouver BC)? thanks
  4. esty were you visiting Al....
  5. did you ever sell these? still interested if not. akarcioglu@gmail.com
  6. I am in Vancouver BC and you can store it in my garage any day!
  7. they make the better of the knock off's. There is a second company making them for around 4600 a set from China also. The German ones are the nicest if you don't car about originality.
  8. A couple of buddies of mine do VW restorations. I saw a couple that they did as very high end finished 60's cars that were not that bad for rust. They both did somewhat high performance engines and drive trains. The $60 was not too hard to spend by the time the dust settled. I have seen VW buses (early split windows) go past $100K. How much should a BMW 2002 cost? Depending on what the body is like I would expect the same kind of money $50-65K. The prices BMW charges for new parts exceeds the aftermarket of VW. Both of these shops charge in the $55/hr neighbourhood. The finished products have won many a car show. Both guys have worked on a 1938 Alfa that won its class at Pebble Beach and a third place overall. For that kind of money you won't be buying a $20K off of someone else that would compare. Everyone has a different idea of what a great or perfect car is. To some a $10 000 car is fabulous. To others it takes the level of a $60 000 restoration. If you are going to the best shops you ten to get the best of the best in work. To get that isn't cheap. Here is the 38' Alfa. The paint alone was close to $100 000 (no bodywork). The restoration was over $450 000 and the car is close to $10 million!
  9. I have a set of Cosmics for each of my cars. 2 Datsuns (510 and Roadster), my 74' 2002 and my 54 VW Beetle. I had the 15" Porsche wheels refurbished. They look pretty nice except lots of small inclusions in the spokes. Cosmics were a cheaply made wheel (low pressure castings made for a porous finished product). I can't believe the price differences amongst the different cars. Porsche Cosmics are going for $3500 a set of 4!! [/img]
  10. you want light and big power I should post pics of my 65 Beetle. 1435 lbs and near 600HP (4 cylinder air cooled, draw thru carb)! I will try to post a link I had about a guy in Europe with close to 500 HP and torque with pretty much a standard M10 engine (some aftermarket but nothing fancy). http://m10racer.com/Turbo.aspx
  11. hey I like the 400lb bachelorettes......
  12. seems like you should take care of some old business before drunning up any new business.....
  13. turned out to be the linkage at #3 position had come apart. thanks for the tips guys
  14. I already have all the stuff to do a 5 spd swap. I just don't need it to be right now that he swap needs to take place! I am thinking that it is a loose linkage problem more than an oil issue. Just by the way the shifter feels when you go to change gears. Might be able to get to the car today (35kms away from my house). Lucky it warmed up here and all the snow melted!!
  15. Thanks for the help guys. I will be back to the car either later today or tomorrow to see if I can rescue her or just shoot her on the spot and put her out of her misery!
  16. I like how you have to check the oil when hot but how do you do that if you can't drive the car to get it hot? What level should show if the oil is cold?
  17. there was a clicking sound that didn't seem to change with RPM that I noticed that day. I don't drive this car very often and use it for emergencies or the odd day here and there. The shifter's detent(s) have been off a slight bit from the letters on the display. Other than that I haven't noticed anything different than when I have driven the car in the past. The shifter does lock into park but you can't find any other gear or detent when going through the motions. The oil level looks okay with the car running and in P. I will have to get under it and see if the mechanism has come loose for some reason. Thanks for the posting.
  18. go to drive the car away and the transmission won't go into gear! The shift will move but nothing happens when you put it in gear. It feels like there is nothing there: no detents, no movement or sounds. Almost like the cable is broken. Any ideas?? thanks in advance
  19. I was going to say that the tubes look to be of different diameter also. Looks like a poor copy or a poor real one. There is no holes on the left side to mount the power shut off switch also.
  20. I am going to pass thanks guys.
  21. was trying to find the ad with a picture because some guy is looking to sell door cards for 510's and didn't know pricing. i told him of the ones for 02's and their prices. I thought a picture would help with getting an idea how the quality was for the money. thanks for helping.
  22. who has the ad for the wood door panels that you would use for making a set of new interior panels? I remember seeing the ad somewhere for CNC panels. thanks
