  1. Just spit ballin here but it seems the people that are having problems are from Europe, we don't have to pay VAT over here, is it possible that's the issue. The price changed on mine at checkout.
  2. I was just looking around for pics of 02s with Grids on it last night, only found 1 but looked pretty good. Very popular wheel with the Subaru crowd. Interested in seeing the car with the rims on.
  3. Decided to refinish my E21 basket weaves before putting on the new rubber. Stripped, bead blasted, painted and polished the lip. Looks good but I may go with more of a gunmetal color, haven't decided yet. I still have some Urban Grey Metallic left over from my 07 Subaru WRX. Before and after shots.
  4. Thanks for the reply on the flares. 13B will be a great motor for an 02, I considered it myself as I played with rotaries for many years.
  5. If I missed it I apologize but what flares are those, where did you get them. Thanks
  6. Why not just primer, paint and clearcoat. Spraymax 2K comes in a semi gloss clear iirc. If it's fiberglass you should be able to paint it with just about any automotive paint. Most paints will hold up to underhood temps that aren't in direct contact with the block or manifold.
  7. I quite like those wheels, must be a bear to park though.
  8. Just for giggles my brother and I put his 15X8 XXRs off of his E30 on the 02, definitely needs flares, they come in 15X7. I'm on the fence about appearance, just thought I'd post the pics for anyone's reference.
  9. Forgive my noobness, but what is a "stacked" wheel. I keep seeing the term but pics don't look any different than any other wheel.
  10. Although this is probably a given, prep is everything for a quality, long lasting job. SEM makes an excellent prep spray, it prepares the vinyl to get better adhesion. I would suggest using it.
  11. I really dig the RPF1s, what size/offset and tire size are you runnin. Any rubbing issues.
  12. I was just out looking at my E30 steelies and the stockers and had the same idea. Being a machinist with access to some really good welders, I may have to come up with a plan. Thanks for the extra photos.
  13. Those are exactly what I've been trying to find. How much was it to do this and what metal was added other than weld.
  14. What is your thinking for putting in an S14, cool factor, power, BMW originality, 9000 euros can buy a lot of motor. S2000, highly (turboed) modified M10 or E30 M20. All I'm saying is you can do a lot with that kind of money, especially for an engine that may need rebuilding or parts. If money is no object to you, have at'er.
  15. I think any BMW after the E36 is going to be expensive to maintain unless you're a decant backyard mechanic who can take the time to cruise the forums. I am a big fan of the E39 series, especially the 540i, GREAT touring car. Prices around here are way down, don't know about where you are. Find one that's been well maintained and be aware of the big issues, cooling system and A-arm bushings (the famous 50 mph shake). The forums know every little niggle on these cars, they even have a list of common problems and fixes. Prices are actually fairly reasonable, BMW and Pelican parts, if you do the work yourself. I loved my 540, a cow to work on but what a car. X-drive adds unnecessary complexity where you're from, just added stuff to go wrong. I've heard nothing but horror stories about the X3/5, more time at the dealership than driving.
  16. Very nice, where do I get a set of these wheels, are they rare/hard to come by/wildly expensive?
  17. I hear where you're coming from but this car is much rougher than it looks. I don't know what they're worth in the US but up here it's worthless, just another beat 320. I can't buy an LSD or 5 speed for what I paid for this car.
  18. It is definitely an S with everything but the close ratio 5 speed, as far as restoration I have a choice, the 02 or the 320 and I have already made that decision. I suppose the 320 is restorable but around here it's not going to be worth the money thrown at it in the end, unlike the 02. There is a very mint orange 320is in Calgary for $5500 CND, unfortunately it got "sold" before I could look at it, then it showed up again after I bought my 2 cars...oh well, I like the 02.
  19. This will be the biggest challenge to date for me but there seems to be a pile of info out there to help me along. I'll probably start a blog once I get going on this thing but that may not be until October or later...house renos are interfering with important stuff
