  1. Try bmw of south Atlanta - thought I saw the colors your looking for there.
  2. Hi all I was under the hood of my 02 today and I just found this connecter with a cover on it (spray painted red...thanks to PO). Can anyone help identify what it is and does? Thanks Dionk
  3. Struck out with wallets/nesh....will try he vesw folks next....then if that doesn't work....I will fabricate as suggested by 76Mintgrun'02.
  4. I think that is part #: 51211847798 item 8 in pic. Can anyone verify... mine are completely deterioted, so when my 2002 was caught in a rain storm my foot wells were small swimming pools of water. I may need to investigate the plastic seal and drain holes as well. Water gets in everywhere on my car....the seals around my windshield were original so I could see water dripping in. ...sigh I digress. Most All new seals have been purchased and these squeegee's are next on the list. Till then my car is in the garage.
  5. Got it...so maybe MOMO made this for Alpina?
  6. Impulse buy...anyone ever see one of these before? Is it real Alpina? Why does it say Alpina and Momo? Thanks Dion
  7. Almost have everything I need/want. H&R sport springs arrived today. Couple more items to go. Crawled under the car this past weekend and sprayed all my old suspensions rusty bolts with a penetrating oil. To make the job easier when it happens! Will post pics.
  8. John, I'll be there! For both events... Do you know how to get signed up for the diy? Thanks Dion
  9. My humble newbie opinion. This will never be an investment grade vehicle but should keep up with market for a good to better then good condition car - think 7 out of 10. I've seen Frankenstein cars sell for good money because of the workmanship of the changes. The buyer is happy with those changes and perceives value. On the other hand, this car your looking at, while it will garner respect and attention at a local car meet, will never be able to be valued like a fresh out of the factory, 1 owner garage queen that goes from auction block to garage to auction block. Once again- If it's in good running condition, shows well and is not an attempt at an "automotive investment" it should at best hold value that is consistent with current market rate for a "good" to "better then good" condition car. I was once told that "numbers matching" only matters to at the concurs collectors level.....I tend to agree.
  10. When I bought my 02 I had to do the same thing. But it started with diagnosis of an engine that was barely running on 2 cylinders. So some small portion of the total below was incurred in diagnosis. I sourced a replacement engine and trans from a 73 on Craigslist, bought all new belts, hoses, water pump, thermostat, various gaskets, motor mounts, trans mount, clamps, oil, antifreeze, oil filter, and misc hardware. Install didn't go as smooth as I wanted - a couple of parts took forever to get here (damm you spacer bush) and once the engine was installed they found I had a vacuum leaks in my manifold and brake booster so the shop replaced the gaskets and removed the brake booster. I had the booster rebuilt by mailing it to 2002ad. There are several of "since you in there" projects for example: I had them also install a shifter refresh kit, replace the brake hard lines, and brake master cylinder etc etc.. I wish I had also replaced/reinforced the front subframe at that time.....but that would have lead to suspension items which I'm gearing out for now. All said and done - labor was $2652 at close to $120 an hour or 22 hours. good luck - I know I could have found a cheaper place / price to install but this shop is close by and I trust the guys working there. Learned a valuable lesson about pre-purchase inspections - get them - no matter what.
  11. My nine yr old daughter was playing with the dog in the front yard and then walked over and asked "Dad can I help?" I showed her how to check and top off the oil. Very proud dad.
  12. While I have the front subframe off the car - what else might i address? thinking i might also put a new seal on the oil pan. Thoughts on other items?
  13. Still available. All parts acquired for suspension overhaul inlcluding front and rear powdercoated subframes, billsteins, hr sport springs, Ti rods, control arms, all rubber bushings etc...etc...etc...
  14. Thanks everyone for the thoughts on this leg of my 2002 journey. Update: Almost have all the parts I have ordered. Thanks Blunt! Still waiting on H&R sport springs and my rear subframe from coupeking Decided to replace my front subframe with one that has been reinforced and powder coated also from coupeking. I may add add some items based on comments in this thread. Those who hinted at possible project creep were spot on. 1. Backing plates 2. Maybe wheel bearings (I just replaced these last year - less then 1000 miles on them) - because I'm new to this I'm not sure if replacing subframes /suspension will impact the bearings. 3. Refreshed Steering box / coupler 4. Sway bars? And associated bushings. 5. Camber adjustments noted above Will post updates soon. Thanks again
  15. Thanks I think I have a solution Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. My 71 o2 didn't come with a trunk key. Think my best option is to replace the cylinder with a new/used one. Let me know if you have one thanks.
  17. Thank you. And yes pumping the gas pedal when it's cold seems to do the trick for now. Any idea why the choke plates would be removed?
  18. Took me a while but here are the pics looking top down with the air filter off and from and angle.
  19. First box arrived today more to follow !!!! Joy joy joy !!!!!
  20. I have the same problem on my 71 2002. But it's not due to the engine mounts. The fan is hitting the radiator because the front end of the car has been in an accident. There is another thread somewhere here on the FAQ that discusses using heat to bend the blades back oh so slightly I'll see if I can't find that thread and post a link to it a little later this evening. I bought another fan blade and my mechanic is going to try this technique. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks for all the inputs. I will read that FAQ article. The search for a good seat option for my car continues. By good I mean easy to install (no welding or cutting my car) and cheap short term option. Long term I want my original o2 seats and interior restored. I had found some Mazda protege seats on Craigslist - but the guy responded once and never again. I may just bite the bullet and have an upholstery shop redo the seats. Not my highest priority at the moment. Or.....I may may go out to a salvage yard this afternoon with a measuring tape. Will report back if I do have any luck.
