  1. New carpet kit. Brand / manufacture unknown. I bought this carpet kit thinking I would go with the gold/brownish interior. Changed my mind on interior color. $250 shipped anywhere in conus. Thanks
  2. I see the car Saturday...will do some studying before then.
  3. Found a tii for sale - considering buying it. Fuel injection is pulled apart. How bad could it be? I ask because I have no idea what an overhaul of this system could cost and or entail.
  4. Bluntech’s got them.
  5. A happy CANADA day it is....
  6. So with the dash out it made sense to also pull and contemplate a heater box overhaul as well. So I pulled it from the car today. Fairly easy qty 2 11mm on the bulkhead and two clamps to detach the hoses. Set it down and cleared away the discintegrated 50 year old foam. As others have warned...there is still antifreeze in the unit! I layed down some linoleum on the passenger side floor and tilted it out to that side.... sure enough. If your doing this job as well have rags/ paper towels handy. Variety of pics below.
  7. I just bought a set of 2002 struts for this very reason - haven’t gotten to this part in my project yet.
  8. How about differential and transmission fluid ?
  9. For our cars that are driven only a few thousand miles a year, how do you address the various maintenance intervals. What do you do regularly and what should be done even if you are only Sunday driving? thanks Dionk
  10. I read as many threads as possible on three piece dashboard removal and attacked the job today. I found the threads with pics to be most helpful. I think it was pho23 that had a some great pics and I gave his DIY thread titled "Removing a 3 piece dash." dated oct 28 2007 thread 5 Stars. i followed the steps he described in the thread and found no issues with the instructions at all. Here are the things I broke in the process. 1. Air vent hose to plastic dash vents. 2. Tabs on the plastic dash vents. 3. A couple clips pulled off the dash and stayed in the car. My advice is to go slow to a avoid the mistakes I made. here are the pics

    Random new parts

Just bought it for my car - this is just my blog - parts not for sale - that said I know I.E. has em and so does W.N. also check with blunt.
  12. Depends on your goals, timeline and budget. I'm a 02 rookie and in the same boat as you. My 2.0 engine (attached to front sub frame and trans) is out and on the garage floor. I have a notional plan which includes most of the items below that will kick off once my home paint job is complete. My Moto: Embrace the mission creep - plan for it to drive another 50 years! That said and excluding all the things that you can do to the engine and/or engine swaps, here are some ideas (most of which you can do with the engine in as well). It's certainly not exhaustive but food for thought. Clean everything Paint engine bay Powder coat or chrome plate as desired Inspect repair or replace heater box / hoses Inspect repair or replace steering box Inspect repair or replace suspension Consider an Alternator upgrade Consider E30 M3 Starter Consider new carb options or FI options Consider 5spd upgrade Inspect repair or replace wiper motor Inspect repair or replace Washer fluid reservoir, pump and hoses Inspect repair or replace hood hardware/pads bump stop thingys (Anything rubber) Consider upgrading your pedal box and Brake booster to 2002 If your sticking with the 1600 Booster (tuna can thingy) Linwar motors in southport England has em Run new brake lines (Single or dual circuit) Replace MC If you are upgrade to a 2002 booster consider having it rebuilt (IE or 2002AD and others do this) Replace the Sound barrier (Just bought one from Blunt) Replace rubber elephant trunk drains (not sure what they are called) Make provisions for a trunk based battery Consider installing A/C system (Yeah - I'm thinking about it) Test electrical / overhaul and Re-wrap Inspect repair or replace grounds If you dropped your sub frame - re-enforce engine mounts (IE has the plates or make your own) Consider replace front sub frame hardware (I just bought some pretty new hardware from WN Overhaul struts/paint ETc... Basic engine items: all new belts, hoses, water pump, thermostat, various gaskets, motor mounts, trans mount, clamps, oil, antifreeze, oil filter, and misc hardware (Alt bush etc...). Good Luck...let me know if you think of anything else - I'll may add it to my list.
  13. Bought a craftsman strap wrench - no luck Bought the pipe wrench (aka Monkey wrench) - caps came off like butter
  14. Pictures? Can it be fixed? Bluntech has em. https://www.blunttech.com/products/6608389
  15. “WTB connecter / harness needed for addition of tachometer in my 1600 replacing the clock.”
  16. I have a 1600-2 that I'm building right now as well. Keeping the exterior to spec. But swapping out some off the older 1600 unique items out. It already had a 2.0 engine. I'm swapping out my 1600-2 pedal box for a 2002 pedal box / brake booster and going with an e21 MC. swapping in 2002 struts as I believe the 1600-2 ones are smaller then the 2002. I'll be keeping the single circuit brakes and I'm still debating willwood or Volvo brake upgrade or other options in the front and e21 drums in the rear. I pulled the gauge cluster and it's being restored as we speak by a fellow FAQ member. The PO had swapped the clock for a tachometer. Interior was gutted when when I got the car so it's a blank slate and I'm having some upholstery work done to some e21 recaro a in the front and e24 rear set up. i have front and rear 2002 subframes from coupe king that I'm installing. Decided on leaving the ride height stock. And I have several options when it comes to wheels to choose from. I don't have the 1600-2 style wheels and hubcaps. Which I may seek out at some point. recommend considering a third brake light and/or led brake lights. my dash is trashed so I have to figure that out as well. also I'm swapping in an getrag 245 and an LSD. still debating the carb set up. i have a stahl header and still figuring out what other exhaust pieces to s so in. also swapping out all body gaskets. lots of work to do. Hope that's helpful.
