  1. Same problem with Tapatalk after the major update but different error. Whenever you have time Steve. Cheers.
  2. Thanks Toby, I think I'll go with complete GC kit. Cheers
  3. I looked up MotonJRZASTGround ControlTC KlineTEINKW And only GC makes a suspension kit for 02. Other mentioned brands are between $4-$5k for the front pair. CG will cost me $3k AUD installed. https://groundcontrolstore.com/collections/e9-e10/products/bmw-68-76-bmw-2002-complete-suspension-system What say you?
  4. Financially, they're more practical than a permanent fixed kit for my purposes. I might lower the car for a specific event, go back to 13" wheels, do a fun track day through bmw club, then just set it up for comfort. It gives my options more flexibility and I guess thats why they were invented. Otherwise no problems with a fixed setting.
  5. Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if the CAtuned kit was the same as every other Taiwanese coilover brand so good thing I checked. I understand the term "street car" is commonly used here to differentiate between a car that's driven on track for racing and a car that's driven on streets as daily or occasional drive. I believe that term is now obsolete because some recent sports cars now sold by dealers can now match or even outperform purposely made track cars. When driving on streets, I like to be able to sharp corner at 50mph with ease rather than appearing like your going to roll over. Based on your recommendations, I will not be installing rear coilovers at this stage but I still need advice on how to make my car more stable when cornering. I'm looking to install front coilovers with ability to adjust damper level. I'm also happy to include all other suspension improvements if recommended (My project car came with IE's front & rear sway bar and urethane kit already installed).
  6. Barking at who's tree? As stated in my comment, the 3D printer is only used for prototype and once the initial fitment are confirmed, I'll seek to have it manufactured by an Australian car lens manufacturer for my own personal use. I will however share every steps with this forum.
  7. Does anyone have any experience or feedback about CATuned coilovers? Seems to be a cheaper alternative to GC but with more options. https://catuned.com/catuned-2002-coilover-system Also what does it mean by "reinforcement required"? I've already got TEP's battery relocation brace installed. Thanks
  8. No doubts. They're perfect alternatives to the original Italian style lights at lower cost of the original. However, considering the costs of Italian signals, they're not a good alternative for someone who is looking to replace their broken oem signals for a daily car. A better practical option to consider for oem style would be to supply the replaceable screw mounted lens at reasonable price. This way, buyers can have their signal housing polished or anodized, then just buy the lens kit which should supposedly include stainless steel or chrome screws/washers for mounting the lens to the housing & body and a small clear silicon tube or relevant rubber/gasket glue to seal the lens. I've successfully removed the oem lens without any damage. I'm now trying to use 3D scanner and printer to make a prototype (for myself). It will be a slow project but will share my experience and DIY write up once I can make it practical in terms of cost vs quality, durability & design.
  9. There is no liability if you're not causing direct financial loss. BMW doesn't produce these anymore. Doesn't IE fabricate, design and sell remanufactured spare parts?
  10. I always refrain from claiming the actual number of horsepower since its dependant to numerous variable and conditions. Car won't be raced but will be road driven on weekends with occasional drag when there are no cops around! But otherwise driven as you would drive your daily. The gearbox is advertised as new stronger bearings and 5th gear from Jenson Healey's Getrag 235/5 CR dogleg. I'm going to ask for serial number and more details to see which bmw 235/5 dogleg is on offer (I was told there are 3 different models) and what part did they use from Jenson Healey. I know this box was built for track racing because they're also selling other items like front & rear reinforced subframe sand stage 3 coilover setup, diff and etc. Why is the 235/5 CR dogleg is the highest in demand if it's not as reliable as it said to be?
  11. Ok so I lost the sale on that 265 but found a 235/5 dogleg newly rebuilt using new heavy duty bearings and with 5th gear from Jenson Healey's Getrag 235/5 dogleg (1:1). So now the question is, should I keep looking for 265/5 dogleg or buy the 235/5 dogleg? Not sure if the 235 can handle high horsepower. I recently saw a detailed comparison on all these boxes but cant find it anywhere. Cheers
  12. It's a 265/5 close ratio out of a euro E30 M3. i don't think it's a straight swap so just wanted to know what's involved. Cheers
  13. I cant find any info on this box. Would this fit an M10 and if yes, are there any modifications? 3049 EE 262.0.0510.00 Thanks in advance.
  14. Chris, I welcomed you because your profile name doesn't show your personal history so I went with number of post to this forum. Had I welcomed you at the start of my comments, this misunderstanding with Coop and then you wouldn't have happened. I had a look and Coop was right, it did come as somewhat condescending and I apologise to you as my welcome was sincere. I dont have a better car than what you've built for Roy. By better, I was referring to cost vs insurable asset value and not the actual work done to the car. I never meant to devalue shop owner's effort and their business and here with I confirm that outsourcing project cars to shop owners specialised in such business is in fact the smartest way to go. Moving forward, I believe the S14 engine is over priced for what it can deliver but doesn't mean the S14 engine is not good enough. I bought my own newly built for track S14 engine for $8k last year and the prices doubled since. Not because the S14 engine became twice faster or better, its just because most people think swapping with S14 is the best option for 02s and therefore demand has gone up bumping the price of S14 engine. This is the point I was trying to make. Kudos to you for doing that project 10 years ago and you're totally right, that would've been a killer project at the time. Cheers.
  15. Coop, you're over reading my comments. I tried to use brackets "()" to explain certain words so people wont jump out of conclusions but it didn't work (not being condescending here!) because I may not have been clear enough on the fact that by saying "better", I refer to it's ROI (Return On Investment) and NOT to "someone else's baby" as you put it! So I hope I've been clear about what the word "better" meant in this case. Lets have a beer next time I'm in LA. [emoji5]
  16. Andrew, I agree. though my points were repeatedly taken off subject. Never meant to disrespect any shop owner and my apologies in advance to you and other shop owners. Chris has 5 posts in this forum and at the time he had 3 submitted and that constituted a welcome post! Cheers
  17. Chris, I'm sure the owner of said car had put in passion, time, money and effort in building the aforementioned car. This is a 2002 forum so we've all passionately restored or currently restoring 2002s and relay here. Sadly time is not calculated when setting market value (not build value) for a car and build cost was never a subject here. Most of us average viewers were commenting on market value. Yes I have built a better car and my comment was in relation to its ROI and not its color or design taste (but seriously, who has hot dogs with ketchup?). Many members here own better cars. But that doesn't mean this car wasn't good enough. In fact this car was outstanding. We all love to see our assets increase in value who doesn't. But if you pay $125k for a car that has an average market value of less than what its cost (again, it doesn't necessarily mean that it cost less to build it), how do you plan on insuring it when your insurance company value it at $60k? You would end up paying additional insurance premium to keep it at agreed value. That's only one of the reasons most other buyers wont go for $125k BMW 2002. And consequently that would effect its market value. Most of us here have a fair estimated knowledge of how much everything cost. We've gone through restoration or track car modifications so rest assured we know what it cost to build a car like the one sold for $125k. There is absolutely no debate on how much effort is dedicated in restoring a classic car, I have personally opted to replace every single bolt, nut and screw or have every possible part plated, plastic & rubber material reordered, every wire replaced and renewed and so on. But I think (and that's my personal opinion, not a debate) the true value of a restored "classic" car comes from its originality, its history that could be traced back, its original factory features and how many of the specific model were produced and most importantly, from its market demand and supply availability. So for example, if you live in a country that is near impossible to find a newly restored 2002 and everyone wants one, you could expect to pay a hefty price but if there are plenty of restored 2002s available for sale and not many buyers in the market, the 2002 with s14 engine wont be getting enough market value just because it has s14 engine, even though it should. Speaking of this car, and as far as I can see or read, same or similar suspension, brakes, interior, body, lights, exhaust system, diff, wheels radiator and most other mentioned bits are commonly used by faq members. The S14 engine and CR Getrags are also used by many members here. We are all very familiar with this kind of build. P.S. Welcome to the forum
  18. Wow never knew "THE MARKET" was the result of one auction but I'll take your word for it. My build is better than this one anyway so in a sense, I guess I should be happy because the market has spoken and I'm in profit. Cheers.
  19. This worth less than half it was sold for. If you considered how much went into it then some of us should ask $200k for our cars.
  20. Thanks Gale, I'm looking for the ones with both top and bottom maylar stripes preferably in black but other colours would be ok too. Cheers
  21. It's all good, just make a link to your new post in WTB thread.
  22. Hey buddy, this is a sales thread for when you're selling something. Would you be kind to post you're WTB's in WTB thread? Thanks in advance.
  23. Thanks Steve, this is great. Cheers
