  1. Jesus man really sorry to here this. I have my own WTB ad. for some RC003's, could have easily been me in your place right now. I'm glad to hear everything is working out thus far.
  2. Floor boards need to be cut out, needs a new hood, two fenders (and God knows what's under that), and the car was hit in the rear so the drivers side taillight is in at an angle from a poor repair job. Trust me, If I didn't even want to pay $1000 for this thing there was a reason. Good car for parts possibly but not restoration, especially being here in CA where you can find a much much better starting point.
  3. I saw this car in person. It was at a local auction in my area so I headed over to check it out. Mannnn was that thing rusty. I think starting price on it was $1000 at the auction, I highly doubt it went for more then $2k, infact I'm suprised someone bought it! The engine bay is the cars original color, red.
  4. I hope the hardtop will also be off! Such a pain if you don't have anyone around, I'd always have to ask a neighbor. Great cars! -Kevin
  5. You know, I just assumed the wheel was the same (specially cause the splines are). I saw it in a book I own and looked the same and didn't see why BMW would change the design, looks like they did. Guess the words "newbie" by my user name are really shining now! Appreciate the info! -Kevin
  6. Just listed them yesterday! Like said above, I don't know your location. As of now im trying to do a local sale only. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/pts/5134608670.html -Kevin
  7. NOT MINE; NO AFFILIATION Found this while brousing Craigslist. I've been looking for a nice project car, or almost fully restored 2002 for a couple months now with no luck. I'd be WAY over my head with this one, this is in need of a full restoration by the look of the pics. I could do the work, but do I don't see the cars value as high as parts and labor would cost. The only good thing I see about the car is the Red turn lights, and not eveyone is a fan of them. Who knows, there's probably more. Link: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5090136913.html
  8. I'm on the hunt for one in a "California Garage". I'm sure after enough neighborhood searching it'll come my way.. Or maybe not. -Kevin
  9. I have my Mtech 2 forsale over there right now to make room for an 02! I hope it's the right decision, but I'm sure it will be.
  10. I just read the last sentence in the ad. to get that assumption. Look's like I have a lot to learn over here, only familiar with R3V members!
  11. NOT MINE; NO AFFILIATION Figured I'd share it, looks to be in a lot better shape then that 2002tii that was for free in Monterey, CA a couple weeks ago. By the sound of the ad. it looks to me he might just give it away for free so he has less trouble on his hands. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5060173506.html
  12. Is schwartz still considered a rare color on the later square tail light cars? Seem to be a lot more common color on them compaired to the roundies.
  13. Find the previous discussion here: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/166363-craigslist-tii-cheap-not-mine/
  14. Snapped this pic, a nice puff of blue smoke would come out when he let off the throttle, I'm sure we all know whats going on here I drove down from San Fransisco with the caravan group called "bavarian500". Check out all those BMW's in line on the second pic! I drove my Mtech 2 e30 down. -Kevin IMG_1848 by Kevin O'Brien, on Flickr IMG_1514 by Kevin O'Brien, on Flickr IMG_2069 by Kevin O'Brien, on Flickr
  15. Was there a different part number with these rather then the standard "euro" orange sets?
  16. Well according to the owner, the car passed smog the last time he had it done (I believe 2013 was last date) I left a note on the car and him and his wife called me the next day are willing to sell it. It would be registered in Mendocino county. I'll take pictures on Saturday to see how much you guys think it's worth. It has a rebuilt engine, tranny (auto sadly, which would be swapped for 5 speed), rebuilt carb, instrument cluster, and re upholstered seats. The clear coat is failing in some places and the only rust I can find is slight bubbling around the windshield. Underneath looks completely rust free but I'll have to take a good look when I see it again. Edit, here's a pic that I took when I drove by:
  17. Steve, thanks for such a wonderful answer. The only person I found claiming this false info was the user in post #4, who happened to make that clam on a couple different threads. I'm glad we where able to get everything clarified. Looks like if I do purchase the car I'm going to need to do some research to bump the compression a bit, hopefully keeping the pistons that are currently in the car. Best regards, Kevin
  18. I'm sorry to bump such an old thread, however I can't find an answer. Can anyone else comfim Automatic 2002's had a 8.9:1 compression in 76', rather then the 4 speeds 8.3? I'm checking out a 76' (California spec) this saturday. Smog will not be an issue as it would be registered in a smog free county.
  19. Is the owners manual still legible/ no pages missing?
  20. Best 2002 color in my personal opnion. Best of luck with the sale!
  21. It is a rare combo, but after 5k in paint and body work you'll be in it for 18K. After that I see it needed mechanical work, interior work, ect. I feel like the price is a tad to much but it has a ton of potential. Good luck with the sale to the seller, though its not going to last long.
  22. His intake manifold was really interesting, how he flipped the air box to the opposite side! I was hoping for a build thread or something but sounds like he didn't make one.
