  1. Pull the speedo cable for starters Pull the cable out of the casing Inspect the cable for rust , corrosion or kinks in the cable loose wires etc. If the cable looks ok after cleaning Shoot PB Blaster down the casing then grease the cable and reinstall Sounds like its snagging If that doesn't work There may be other issues You might even try a new speedo cable before any next steps Good luck with this
  2. Not really Tom you raise two good points Being casual or sloppy about carb settings and timing can have disastrous results and I admit I’m being a little casual about running a little rich An AFR is great tool to have especially to tune a Tii Someday I’ll probably get one and then I can really tune the car A good deal of credit for the car running so well goes to the 123 distributor It is probably why the car runs so smoothly Some people play with 38/38s and are never happy With 123 on place the 38/38 ran fine from day one Thank you BTW for your contributions to the board
  3. Should add that this setting leans the carb from stock carb jetting Timing is set at about 6 degrees and the rest is done by the curves set in the 123 tune distributor Basically the Tii mechanical curve with some vacuum advance The 123 makes a dramatic improvement but that’s an entirely different subject A search will reveal several pages of posts
  4. Here my jetting for a Motor with 9.5 compression 292 cam header and 123 distributor Also used for the same setup with 284 cam Mains 135 Air 180 Idle 50 E tubes F66 No AFR Just butt dyno It appears to run rich. Tailpipe is black But as they say “a fat motor is a happy motor
  5. Ray Since very few of us drive for MPG or even check it MPG is basically insignificant Shoot me if I ever start clogging up the roadway like some Prius driver ( notice the next time you are on the freeway and somebody is doing 62 MPH in the car pool lane. the odds are its a Prius but I digress. The difference from driving with a 32/36 and starving on the 32 single barrel and driving with a 38/38 synchronized is the low end torque is substantially greater The car feels like it has a lot more power in normal street driving range. The 38/38 is a lot of carburetor and can be jetted down especially for a stock motor I run one on a mild build motor and have run one on a 150 hp build. In each case I have jetted it smaller and they start well and run smooth. If anyone is interested I will dig out the jetting sizes and post them here.
  6. I have painted them with Hammer Mill finish spray silver and I've seen them powder coated in a gray color. Neither one is attempting to look like the bright coat anodization on the originals but they look good They can be taken to a plating shop and have the coatings chemically stripped to bare aluminium Then they can be polished. It's a lot of work but they can look like chrome. There are a few places that can still do Bright Dip and it will look like new. Just a few options
  7. I think I do how does that work ?
  8. I believe your 32/36 will be fine for smog Its the adapter to the air c!eaner that is important for CARB requirements The smog guys most likely won't even know this. I wou!d split this up and keep the 32/36 The ba!ance including the adapter the brackets and hardware , the hose and cold air box I would part with for $ 175
  9. It's a miracle " It's a miracle " Did you happen to take advantage of the sale on Whitewalls ?
  10. Steve You are correct as usual the Ram adapter was CARB approved to run the Weber 32/36 so for visual it will pass. the real test is the sniffer at Idle and 2500 rpm. Of course there are a lot of other components in the smog system that get pretty complicated in California Air Pump , EGR thermo reactor manifold for a California car etc. The reality is that most Smog people in California don't have any experience with the equipment and don't know what they are looking at. The true test is the tail pipe test So yes unless the Motor is very sound Good luck passing smog in California with a 76 I once told and person who is quite notorious in San Diego for 2002's and e9's who's name will remain anonymous, that I had a really nice 76. to which he said "there is no really nice 76 in California"
  11. Go back to 1972_Targa's post with the reference to Coupeking They do a perfect new Vin tag If you think anyone cares about the original faded scratched and beat up piece of crap vin tag , --- and wants to put it on a beautifully restored engine compartment with new stickers etc., them save the original for that rare person and give it to them when they own the car, Otherwise make it look good IMHO
  12. I have a near new Weber 32/36 with either stock jetting or modded for more motor a Ram Adapter the stock Air Cleaner with brackets , an Air filter element, the hose from the air filter to the cold air box and the cold air box for the front nose In other words I have everything in like new condition I will sell the lot for $350 I'm in San Diego BTW
  13. You said it yourself If you are keeping the car indefinitely, then set it up to enjoy it You'll never look back on the decision
  14. Its an old photo and the filter was likely tossed Goes to show you don't want to throw away anything from a Tii
  15. Here is a photo It uses a metal bracket that mounts to the front nose by means of a sheet metal screw and maybe a speedclip The bracket fit the roundness of the filter and provides a place for the hose clamp to attach the filter
  16. Good comment about the Alfa BB There are Webers there at a more reasonable price. I bought a pair off Craigslist in Montana for $150 last year Goes to show that Persistent searching can pay off
  17. Here is a photo It uses a metal bracket that mounts to the front nose by means of a sheet metal screw and maybe a speedclip The bracket fit the roundness of the filter and provides a place for the hose clamp to attach the filter
  18. The 5 speed should not be viewed as a negative and after all it can be reverted to a 4 speed very inexpensively for the purest
  19. Depends on the off set. I think .28 works
  20. Coop Didn’t you sell a car at auction for like $93 k a couple of years ago ? Says a lot about the car and the time and place yes ?
  21. You realize the 74 seats are unique and different from 75 and 76 seats yes ? From your name here 74tii I suspect you would be looking for 74 seats I have a pair of 75 seats in Southern California with all the plastic covers if that's what you want It would help to know where you're located as shipping is not very economical
