  1. Thank you.. I will try to fix it again tomorrow.
  2. Thanks... I will check the connector again tomorrow during daylight.
  3. Thanks Hal... Just my luck they are out of stock.
  4. I've been having to jump start my 73 2002 recently. After jumping the car it starts and runs fine as long as I don't let it sit for more than a couple days without driving it.. Then I must jump it again. The L light on the dash no longer lights up when turning the key to start. The radio, head lights, dome light, all appear to work. The battery is only 2 years old. I have determined that the "brown" wire on the 3 prong plug into the voltage regulator is almost broken into just inside of the connector. Wiggle it and I do get continuity, but the L light still doesn't come on. The problem is I cannot get the spade out of the plug to fix it. Can I buy a new 3 prong plug with wires already attached so I can splice the wires from the alternator, or can the spade on the current plug be removed somehow? THX
  5. Top End Performance didn't rebuild my head but Steve was extremely helpful in helping me figure out what I need to buy for my top and bottom end rebuild. He even called and talked with my local engine builder to make sure i had all the correct things needed for a successful job. I have gone back and bought several things from TEP because I was so happy with Steve's personable assistance.
  6. Shipping needed unless you're no more than a couple of hours from Columbus Ohio.
  7. Looking for a good working 4 speed tranny. Maybe someone who recently did a 5 speed swap. Send me a PM if you have one for sale
  8. Randy, I did have the option of having them jet the carb for a fee. I couldnt decide on Carl vs CD jetting so I decided to just go with how it came from Pierce. Maybe not a good choice on my part. The funny thing is, outside of it being a little sluggish in 2nd gear it runs really well once it finally starts and warms up from the initial choke issue so I don't think its far off at all. I think what i'm going to do is open it up and check the jets and either install the jets from the old unit or buy new ones based on either CD or Carl's prescription. Walter
  9. Randy, My carb did come with instructions that I followed. I will try following them again. The car ran really well before the new Weber. The only problem I had was the mixture screw was stuck and would no longer turn.
  10. Yes its a manual choke. I will fiddle with the S shaped linkage.
  11. Hi Folks, I recently... this past weekend to be exact, installed a new Weber 32/36 DGV 5A from Pierce Manifolds Inc.. I have two problems that I haven't been able to solve. The first problem I believe has to do with proper manual choke setting. Question: When I pull the choke all the way out are the choke flaps suppose to close completely or should there be a slight air gap? I cannot get the car to start and continue to run unless I hold the accelerator at about 1200 rpm for about 2 minutes. After about 2 minutes I can push in the choke and the car will idle at about 800-900 rpm then runs fine after that. The second issue I've noticed is 2nd gear is very sluggish, meaning it doesn't accelerate like it did before the new carb, all other gears accelerate just fine. For the record, I did not transfer any of the old jets to the new carb, Should I? I simply installed it straight from the box. The choke starting problem only happens over night or after the car has sat for several hours but the 2nd sluggish is constant. I feel myself starting to ramble so I'll stop now. Any help is appreciated. Thanks...
  12. Mine is about 9 mph off. I just live with it around town. Whenever I'm on a longer drive on the highway I use a mph app that I downloaded on my phone, hey, I always have my phone! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speedometer-speed-box-app/id307529605?mt=8
  13. I'll tinker with the pressure and check the date code when I get home tonight.
  14. Dave, I run 34 pressure all around. Maybe I should lower that a little. The tires are only a year old with 4K miles on them with about half of that driving to Mid-America last April.
  15. Hi Folks, Last year I bought a set of Kumho Solus Ta11 185/70/R13. I probably have about 4K miles on them now. This past weekend's weather was nasty and wet. This was also the first time I've really driven the car in the rain since putting on these tires. Boy was I shocked. My ass-end was slipping & sliding. Since its fall here and there are a lot of wet leaves on the ground, my hope is that the leaves were causing my slippage (I don't think so). Has anyone else had this problem with these particular tires? Any recommendations for a good all season 13 inch tire. Thanks...
  16. I have several cars I could drive. My 02 isn't my daily driver but I drive it every single day without fail. ?
  17. For weeks I've been trying to figure out my shaking engine at idle on my recently rebuilt motor... You name it I've tried it. Nothing worked. Today I ran across this post by 2002Scoob. He indicated that he adjust his valves whenever he notice his motor starting to shake at idle. I honestly thought it would be a waste of time since I set them all at .006. about 3 months ago. Boy was I wrong! What a difference it made by setting mine to .008. My car now idles better that it has since I've owned the car for 7 years now. So I want to send a big thank you to 2002Scoob.
  18. Thank you all. It appears that someone must have removed the spare switched +12v wire mentioned by Mike. I will probably take Martin Cote's advice and find switched +12v at the fuse panel
  19. My car is a manual 4 speed 73 Non Tii with a manual choke Weber 32/36. I am thinking about replacing the manual Weber with an electric Weber 32/36 or possibly a 38/38. Where is the best/simplest place to get power for the electric choke. I assume it has to be a switched +12v... but maybe not. Thanks in advance.
  20. Oh... I could be wrong but I couldn't see any way of leaving the fork out until getting the tranny in.
  21. Same thing happened to me with the clutch fork... kept falling out. I zip tied it to the clutch slave until I got it in before snugging it up then simply cut the ties and removed them. Worked perfectly for me. I was alone trying to balance the tranny on a floor jack. Would have been much easier with a second set of hands. It will eventually slip in.
  22. Andrew, Is there a list started for what I presume will be a lot of folks wanting these or will there be enough for all on the first batch? If there is a list sign me up for a set. Walter
  23. Run the OEM's and sell me the Alpina's. ?
