  1. From the album: Year 2

Started the undercoating process when I replaced the front bushings hoping to protect her before the rainy season kicks in.
  2. From the album: Year 2

Replaced the original bushings with Prothane Urethane (red) bushings. Although found out I need to replace my lower ball joints (ordered).
  3. From the album: Year 2

Attended the "not the 49 mile" drive in late December. A great turn out with beautiful weather.
  4. Great drive on Saturday. 25 great cars...

  5. Great drive again this year. Thanks everyone who helped organize it.
  6. Looking forward to it. My wife and I are still arguing over who gets to drive ...
  7. What a great collection of cars. Not really into all the mustangs, I bet they were fun to drive too Matt Farah Tours Paul Walker's Car Collection http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2013/12/12/Matt-Farah-Tours-Paul-Walker-s-Car-Collection-7717599 The Touring tii Alpina is out front and ready to be driven ...
  8. I'm happy to show you what i did. It's similar to this solution and reflectively cheap
  9. From the album: Year 2

Finally replaced the worn out 14" Dino wheel with a lower end Grant wheel (#377). I have replaced the Grant horn button with the BMW one. It's a bit worn, but I had to have at least one BMW badge in the cabin. Luckily the PO provided a 14" worn Dino and a much better condition 13" Dino. With my recent shoulder surgery and the lack of power steering, the 13" wheel wasn't going to cut it so I sold it to a fellow FAQer named Dino. I'm keeping the 14 and may rewrap it some day. I love the look of wood, but wanted something a bit safer than wood. I don't like the idea of adding a lot of splinters to the list of injuries if I ever (God forbid) get in an accident. So the wheel I went with is actually high density polyurethane. It may not look as good as wood will in 10 years, but I will deal with that later.
  10. This is a great solution and a bit cheaper than what I came up with. Wish you had posted this before I went and made my own. To keep the light reflecting out the back I put the light strip inside a black painted plastic electric cord molding tube that I picked up at a hardware store, and then cut off 1/3 of the circumference to direct the light out the back. Stuck the entire unit to the upper rear gasket. Yours looks even more discreet, and more professional too. Nice job.
  11. Nice work, Max. These four are my favorite by far. Love the detail and the 3 color background.
  12. 13" diameter Dino steering wheel in good condition. One small blemish that does not effect feel or grip. See photo. Slight dish to it. $100 plus shipping
  13. Thanks. I had an email conversation with Paul earlier this week and will most likely look for a way to get my car down to him. It's a bit of a trek for me, but based on his prices it seems like it is worth it.
  14. It's not local for you, but the seller is an FAQ member. real nice guy. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts/4125066148.html
  15. "Earl wins." I agree. I'm still interested in others stories too. Pretty cool so far.
  16. I know it's a loaded question with modifications, etc, but I'm now over a year into my first 02 which has 136k on her and I'm curious just how many miles I can put on her (with proper maintenance and upkeep of course). She's my daily driver and I'd love to see her break well over 200k. if i had to I can always swap engines etc.. but how far can the chassis go? So here's the question: what's the most miles you have seen on an 02, with or without modifications? DriveTrain? Chassis?
  17. All this talk about MPG's has me jealous. My fairly stock 74 tii w/ 5 speed and 3.91 is averaging 19.0 for the last 4 months. granted i use it to commute in some fairly heavy stop and go traffic, but my best tank in the last year has been 24 on a long trip. It's running great though, just wish it was better for bragging rights against my wife's car...
  18. Sorry I should have take photos along the way. Here are a few shots that I took as i rushed out the door this morning. I'll try to get some better one and edit this post in the next day or so. I followed my wife home last night and there is no way that you can miss the 02 when braking at night now... A sample of the bracket after I cut and painted it black: Routing the wire. It tucks into the window gasket easily and then follows the wiring harness to the driver side tail light. I spliced into it just before the harness enters the tail light housing. There is also a good ground in the same corner. Not the best shot, but it does show roughly where I mounted the bracket and light strip: I have a decent video from last night too. I'll try to add it to my profile page so I don't clutter up this posting. PM me if you want more details.
  19. From the album: Year 2

Better shot of the third light
  20. I Followed Justin's lead and finally installed the LED light strip I picked up from Super Bright LEDs. I cut the 3 ft red led flexible light strip down to a little over 2 ft. Then picked up some plastic tubing that you would use to hide electrical cords around a house. Cut away a 3rd of the circumference so it would direct the light out the back window and not into the cabin. Painted the tubing black, glued the light strip inside and mounted/glued the entire unit to the inside top of the rubber gasket that holds the rear window in place. Then ran the wiring behind the back seats into the trunk and tapped into the wiring harness at the left rear tail light. I have to hide some of the wiring and clean up a few things, but you can barely see it during the day when it is off and it sure stands out at night when it's on.

  22. Any recommendations for a shop in the N Bay or SF to install a headliner for my daily driver? I'm not looking for show car quality material or even OEM, just want that brown foam chunks to stop falling out of the 10 rips/holes in my exiting headliner on my head (more importantly my daughters head in the back seat - if she's not happy....) I've heard this instal is a PIA and would rather have someone who knows what they are doing do it.
  23. It was the middle connector in the cluster of three to the right of the white one under the dash. Hope this helps
