  1. PN: 0227901014 For use with the "red" ignition coil I've got an alternative, but looking to get a Bosch. Thanks.
  2. Looks like a decent runner. Gotta love to a/c install: "Don't touch it!!!!" n/m n/a http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/3160585677.html
  3. Yikes, a few feathers got ruffled here...... If one uses the FAQ's as a basis for repairs/upgrades and not as the comprehensive guide, then no harm no foul. I use the FAQ's in tandem with the Google site search feature and I rarely have to post for help as a little search time usually answers all. It'd be nice to have the FAQ's run through a peer technical review committee, presented in Oslo, prestigious awards with a little back slappin, and beers and brats afterwards; but that ain't gonna happen. I very much appreciate the collective body of information the FAQ provides, but I do understand the original posters concerns; FAQ's should be comprehensive. Maybe we just include a notice that a site search or published shop manual also be used in addition to compensate for model year variations, omissions, etc. I can't tell you how many times the FAQ website has saved my hide and made repairs go so much faster. No good deed goes unpunished.
  4. Nice read Paul. Survivor cars always get the girls.........
  5. you'll have to replace the backing plate. the adjustment 'screw' is not available separately. in order to avoid rounding off this 'screw', if it gets frozen, the safest way to free it up is to remove the brake shoes and use a vice grips on the internal side of the adjustment 'screw'. with penetrating oil and work it loose that way. i had to do this yesterday and after oil and working it, it moves more freely, but not so much as to be ineffective in holding its position. i've also dressed worn hex pattern with a file to help restore them for later use with a wrench. Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought.......
  6. Sorry for hihacking the thread, but I replaced the rear shoes a couple of months ago and ended up rounding off the driver side adjusting bolt. Now having to use vise grips. Is it better/easier to replace the entire backing plate or ground off the adjusting screw and fit a new one, if it's still available? TIA.
  7. Looks like it's got some decent sport seats and other bits....n/m n/a http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/cto/3113407094.html
  8. Doh! No email sent, thought you had the email link setup on your profile. Interested in the coil.
  9. Larry. I'd start putting a list of parts that you need together and then get online to check prices; goto realoem.com to get part numbers. I use AutohausAZ, Bavauto, Blunt and as they support the FAQ, are really knowledgeable and are price competitive. I even to go Amazon every now and then as they have 2 day free shipping if you're a Prime member.... Locally, try the Buggy Warehouse they can get parts same/next day. (210) 533-8056. Also, spend some time on the braking system, lift up the car, take off the wheels and check the wheel cylinders on all four corners. Going is nice, but stopping is nicer..... You'll also want to blow out the fuel lines if it's been sitting a while, that or you're going to be changing out fuel filters with some regularity. Same for the gas tank. Hope this helps. Have fun and be patient......
  10. Larry. Nice score, and with original alloys! Let's try to get the SA guys together for a brew when you get it going......
  11. Looks like a good runner..... NM/NA http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/3065088694.html
  12. There's a small clamp that holds the hand brake cable on the rear suspension right next to the hub, one on each side. Anyone with a parts car got on available? Let me know, thanks. [/img]
  13. Planning to go from a 32/36 to a 38/38. Anyone got a manifold that's already hogged out? I don't want to mess with the current intake manifold in the event I want to go back. Thanks. This is for a '73.
  14. The forum search is your friend. There's a ton of info. on brackets, compressors, condensers, evaps, the works.

  17. Anyone holding a good used muffler? The tailpipe on my fell off this past weekend, so it's patched up with a temporary extension until I get a replacement. I swear I'm replacing this car one part at a time..... Interested in a stock muffler, so I'm not looking for the ANSA sport muffler. Seem's like JC Whitney has the best price for a new (PN: BW0207 $98.00), just checking to see if someone's got a good used on as an alternative. Thanks.
  18. This thread got weird in a hurry. Les. I'm finished with the trunk panels and will get them back to you in a couple of weeks. Trunk looks pretty good now. Hope that all is well in the land of Confucius. g.
  19. Now an 02 Disciple, but I've owned both a 356 and 912, excellent cars for the period. Always fun to get those big butts out sideways on a curvy road. Truly the end of an era. R.I.P.
  20. I'll be here Saturday around noon if anyone wants to grab a beer.
  21. If you use Firefox, go to crazedlist.org. It's a clist aggregator, works well with no content restrictions from clist, But only works with the Firefox browser. If you're a fan of Google products, you can use Google reader to setup a list and check all the clist postings by topic; by city. I use it to check for things like "bmw side draft" and it'll check all cities that I've selected in the parts category for side drafts. It takes a little knowledge about saving an opml file and importing it to google reader, but if you get it down, it's automatic and alerts you to the finds. This also requiresFirefox/Crazedlist. www.crazedlist.org Hope this helps
  22. FYI. NM/NA http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/pts/2900559384.html Includes a sidedraft setup and other carbs.....
