  1. Could it be set at, say, 5800? Is it rev limiter rotor?
  2. Does the 123 have that feature?
  3. I'm thinking regulator. They do go bad
  4. Unusual for a battery to gain volts on its own (unless very cold). Trickle chargers are not meant to charge a dead battery. It will take a long time.
  5. I'm not the only one who has had bad experiences with soft mounts. If steve is right, why wouldnt that be sn issue at lower revs too?
  6. It has to be tdc on the firing stroke. I'd pull the cover to check cam Is tdc as well. Out of curiosity how does the distributor know the engine is tdc?
  7. Are those soft mount carb gaskets I see?
  8. That cap is toastado. How's the rotor? What kind of coil are you using?
  9. I think you've got too much advance. I see sbout 8 to 10 at idle (800 or so) and 33 -35 all in at 3000. I'd start with that and as suggested, try more when car runs right. I'm getting the two dcoe threads mixed up. How did you synch the carbs?
  10. The ti curve may b ve been fine in 1970. Anyway, we await answers to a number of questions.
  11. Were those carbs running on the car before with that jetting? If not, who selected the combo?
  12. I meant measured on the car with a light
  13. What is max timing advance and at what rpms?
  14. Don't scrub too hard. I would use vinyl cleaner
  15. Be sure to check the calibration on the dipstick with correct oil fill.
  16. Seemed like a good idea 50 years ago when heads were cheap.
  17. Supplementary Question: I have a 121 head that is a bit over 5.060, but it has grooves from cutting ring gasket. Can I just use a regular gasket and leave the grooves?
  18. As I recall, the factory had several iterations of the standard shell to allow for slight variations. I thought they were colours. So maybe that explains the .3.
  19. Why not get a proper dizzy. Plenty of used ones.
  20. Correct. Just making the point. Front pulley is easier to see. Try putting car at tdc , find notch on pulley and see what it aligns with. Didnt tii have something underneath?
  21. Keeping in mind that #1 reaches TDC twice during a firing cycle.
