  1. Wow and I was worried about my rust repairs ??‍♂️
  2. Im a big Alfa fan and huge fan of the cars Alfaholics is putting out. A Alfa will be next on the list after the 2002 is done.
  3. the $14k it sold for on BAT is definitely a premium for that motor with the high mileage it’s really more a a nice candidate for a rebuild IMO. Whoever bought that paid over $15k once you add in the buyers fee.
  4. Thanks everyone for all the help. Very much appreciated!
  5. these are the only numbers I could find on either side.
  6. looks like your right and it’s a 72: do you think someone just swapped the motor later on in life or this was done by BMW?
  7. Heres the Exhaust Manifold: And some markings on the block below it:
  8. Here you go. Still a lot of crap on it that needs to be scraped off:
  9. Hi Guys, Since pulling my car apart I have found a handful of things I noticed are non original with car. For example the passenger door is purple under the door panel, I have a 1pc dash with the wood trim gauge cluster which according what I read online was for square light cars (mines a 1970), also the front brakes where converted to single brake line units so Im wondering what else has been changed over the year. Below is a photo of the engine vin: but the VIN on my car is: 1672270 .... so Im guessing this isn't the factory motor? Anything you can tell me about the motor? A couple of more photos: And here is the rear diff, Is this just the standard stock rear diff? Any feedback is welcomed!
  10. Everything you said is exactly why I romance about the idea of the S14. I don’t mind paying $10k for one and then rebuilding it and having $15-18k into it but there is no way in hell I’m paying $20k for a motor not rebuilt.
  11. out of curiosity what kind of ballpark would I be looking at for M20 stroker with ITBs and EFI like pictured? How much heavier is the M20 over the M10 with the extra cylinders?
  12. My plan was all along to do a S14 but not with the prices I’m 2nd guessing that. I went looking but couldn’t find any threads comparing built M10 and built M20 swaps and how they compare to a S14. Anyone have any info they can link me too? Ideally I would like a set up around 200-220hp and with efi
  13. Mind sharing what to expect to pay for a build like that? Like the OP Im now rethinking the S14 plans.
  14. I love the K20 motor, but Im a purest when it comes to keeping with the same brand, so personally would prefer to stay BMW.
  15. Just curious if anyone had made and progress on this swap. I was dead set to go S14 on my project, but the prices for everything is just getting insane. Just this weekend a stock S14 sold on BAT for $21K, not even rebuilt, no video of it even running. I like the idea of sticking with a 4cly and the N20 or even the B48 seem like that would be amazing in the car.
  16. Hi guys thanks so much for all the advice. Much appreciated! Since posting that I pulled the rear subframe and all the interior is out. I have had a chance to start scraping yet as I’m currently just in the tear down process to get the frame/unibody ready to send off to OR for dipping. Still have to remove the gas tank, fuel lines and hard brake lines then is on to removing as much of the under coat that I can and sound dampening. Once I do I’ll post up some more photos before it heads to get dipped.
  17. Hi Guys, Ordering some parts from restoration-design for some rust repair on my car and wasn't quite sure what to order (excuse the ignorance as Im new at this): Passanger Rear Fender: As you can see the rust is right at the seam line between the outer fender and inner wheel well. Im going to be putting Alpina style flares on the car which is going to require cutting the outer fender anyway, but 1) wan't sure that you cut the outer fenders that low and 2) If I should just order both pieces, or just the inner fender for the repair.
  18. Used this guide over the weekend and it went flawlessly. Thanks for the write up.
  19. Right now Im doing a complete tear down on the car to send it out to be dipped, so it's not a super big deal. When I get it back Im planning on doing IE's BBK front & rear with power assist delete. I was just trying to understand what a previous owner had done. The rear drums still appear to have both lines running to them. And the two hard lines were also disconnected at the master cylinder. I should go take a look at it and see if they plugged the holes someway.
  20. Thanks for the info. I figured they had to be different then stock, but had zero idea what they were.
  21. I ended up using the heat gun and a scraper which removed everything but it’s not the way to go if your trying to be gentle on the paint. I didn’t care as I’m in a tear down process for a restoration.
  22. Is that normal to swap in a single line caliper?
  23. Hi Guys. Just picked up my car 2 weekends ago and have been in the process of tear down to get it ready for dipping and while removing the master cylinder and brake assist I noticed two of the hard lines were not connected. I looked at the front brakes and low and behold only one of the two hard lines down there are connected. As a noob I was just curious why someone would do this? Are the front brakes other than stock?
  24. Hi Guys, sorry to bump and old thread but I’m having a similar issue to the OP. I used a box cutter and got the outside seal cilia off and removed the windshield, the problem is the left overs just simply don’t want to come out. Is their some type of anti adhesive or lubricant I can put on that will penetrate the old dryer out seal to make it less stuck to the windshield frame? OP did the heat gun work?
