  1. Thanks, Mike. I had all the metal (contact) surfaces cleaned in the fuse box last fall (they shine) and all the fuses were replaced at the same time. Need to look into it a little more. -Raine
  2. I took my '76 02 to get it inspected and the first time the low beams would not come on. I was able to flash the high beams before it once (with parking lights on) before I pulled the knob all the way to show the low beams. They did not come on, neither did the high beams. I cleaned the three relays (on the left fender) thinking the problem might be there and the lights came on afterwards. I went back to get it inspected again and this time (with working low/high beams) the parking lights on the right side did not come on. I was about to give up but pushed the knob in and pulled it out again and BINGO, all parking lights came on. Any ideas? Could it just be the switch? Thanks. -Raine
  3. Sorry, I was just posting it.
  4. I can certainly look into it. I wonder why the people who make the other labels have not done them. -Raine
  5. I'm trying to find out if there is enough interest for me to make new shift pattern graphics and other on the dash lettering (lights, front fog lights, lighter and rear def). They would be computer-designed to match the existing type, size, spacing and any curvature as close as possible and produced in white dry transfer lettering and could be applied from pre-spaced sheets by first cleaning out the old lettering and then burnishing the new in the same place. I have a source and would like to find out if there's interest before I create the art and get some cost ideas. The more demand the cheaper, of course. -Raine
  6. Before NOKIA made cell phones, they made rubber boots and tires.
  7. Instead of wasting money on a dedicared "snow mobile", I'd buy dedicated winter tires on steelies. Best investment if you ever drive in the winter. I drove the white'76 02 in the picture for two winters without snows in Great Falls, Montana. I never had a problem getting around (Michelin XAS), but I recommend all four snow tires. - Raine
  8. Why is it that it's always the AWDs and 4x4s that end up in the ditch? Perhaps because the only advantage they have is forward traction. -Raine
  9. Did you email the advertiser? They're not mine. -Raine
  10. If you need a shop to look it over, there is a good one just outside of Bozeman, Auto Works, Inc. theautoworksinc at bresnan dot net I used them last year to check a car and they were great. I bought the car. -- Raine

  14. Marc, And the VIN decoder says it's a '73 3.0S? -Raine
  15. It's the same car, Marc. Look at the rust on the trunk lid. -Raine
  16. I wouldn't be surprised about the wheels. There's a nice '70 GT for sale in Finland for 16,900 euros. -Raine http://www.nettiauto.com/opel/gt/3366047
  17. I had three Opels and liked them all... before I drove a '76 2002. Rest is history. -Raine
  18. I had a new '75 Sportwagon in red with black interior. Bought it after my '73 Manta Rallye. The fuel injectors (the metal) were the main problem since they were not compatible with the gas in US. They all had to be recalled and replaced and the waiting time was painful. Nice cars otherwise. -Raine
  19. No comment whether the two men had just decided to take the car for a JOY ride. -Raine http://www.detnews.com/article/20110114/METRO/101140420/1409 Police recover BMW stolen during auto show preview Catherine Jun / The Detroit News Detroit— Police today recovered a stolen BMW that was brought to the city for the North American International Atuo Show. The 2011 BMW 7 Series, which sells for more than $90,000, was found on the city's west side on Fullerton Street, said Yvette Walker, spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department. As of 11:15 a.m. today, investigators have yet to take the vehicle into possession, she said. No additional details were available. On Wednesday evening, two thieves drove off with the expensive auto when a handler left it briefly outside the Westin Book Cadillac hotel, police said. The car was one of 20 BMWs brought in for executives to drive this week for the show's media week. The cars were in the process of being loaded onto a hauler
  20. Sorry to hear you have to sell it, Ian. I hope it finds a good home. -Raine
  21. It's up. http://db.nccbmwcca.org/2011/2011_0102.pdf
  22. I'm glad everyone likes the addition of color. It has been my desire for many years but the money just wasn't there. It's nice to be appreciated for the work Jim and I do. Now, we need some good high res photos and articles to keep it looking the way it does (so I don't have to recruit writers from Germany ;-) -Raine P.S. I remember taking that cover shot for the old issue at Bullis High School. BTW, I'm unable to attach the PDF of the newsletter, it's too big.
  23. Well, I think we need a good solid rain to wash all the salt off first. It sure was tempting though. BTW, I lived 8 years in Montana and had never snow tires on my first white '76 2002. I must be getting soft ;-) -Raine
  24. After the snow we got a couple of days ago, I wanted to take the car out but the roads weren't quite dry. Maybe tomorrow. -Raine
