  1. Thanks. I have a BMW-owner friend who lives there and can go by to look at it once I see some pictures first. No rush.
  2. A couple more pictures. According to my research it's rated at 105hp. I wonder what a decent price would be for a car like that? The owner says it's not a "show car", interior is from a later model. Engine is fine, he says. He says the undercarriage has been "repaired" at some point by the previous owner/collector. He's asking $9,800 (in Europe). -Raine
  3. Does anyone know what the local US value of a 1968 1600ti (dual side-draft Solex, never imported to US) would be compared to a regular 1600, 2002 and 2002tii? Thanks. -Raine
  4. I did some research and found out the following. It appears the car was built by the Soviet Autovelo factory, formerly the BMW Eisenach factory. In 1945 they built 68 of these cars (from spare parts), 1946 1,373 and in 1947 2,000 BMWs (using BMWs tools and machinery), note: NOT EMWs. In 1949 BMW broke relations with the East-German Eisenach factory (after they had misused the blue and white Bavarian badge) and after that the cars were rebadged as (red and white) EMWs. The VIN of this car is 1855 (out of 2,000). Here's the cover of the manual. -Raine
  5. From "Great Marques, BMW" I read "in 1945 under its new Russian control, the Eisenach works was capable of making 68 BMW-badged 321s. These cars were marketed as BMWs until 1949." Since the car is still in Scandinavia, it appears that it may be one of these rare cars and is not re-badged as some of them were afterwards. The seller also lists it both ways, as a 320 and 321? -Raine
  6. Thanks. I checked the Price Guide and all records, none exist for 320. I keep looking. -Raine
  7. Does anyone have an idea what the current value of a running and inspected (8/2010) 1947 320 2-door sedan would be? The interior was redone at some point and may not be exactly like OEM, otherwise nearly almost stock. Assume there is no structural and almost no rust anywhere. Thanks. -Raine

  9. Nice cars and nice shots, Marc. Thanks for sharing. -Raine
  10. Note the brown-colored '02 in front of the Golf one! Maybe used in another sales picture? The Golf colored car is also on the cover of the brochure.
  11. Jim, It's interesting to see that the Euro model of the 1502 (inside the brochure) is the same color as the US version 2002 in the 2/75 brochure and that the background is the same restaurant. BMW has done the same with later models, using the same exact background (but Photoshopped) with a newer model placed in the photo. But the 1502/2002 shots were two separate shots. Friend of mine in Munich has a low-mileage red 1976 1502. -Raine
  12. Laughing aside, this may be a very nice car. He was asking 8,000 euros and dropped the price about a week ago to 6,500. Negotiate and then figure in the exchange rate. Shipping to east coast $1,600-2,000. I know reliable people who can check it out in Finland. BTW, the annual inspections over there are VERY strict. I translated some of his ad copy below. -Raine (not related to seller) 1974 BMW 2002 Touring 36 years old. 138444km, proven! I'm the third owner who woke up the old car after 6 years of storage, car's entire history is available. Nearly all documents available: -Service book (original)) -Service records (during many decades) Condition: - Inspected in August this year and passed without any problems found, slight surface rust on the bottom of the car and two areas in the trunk, otherwise sound metal. (Annual inspections in Finland are mandatory and very strict...that's my comment) - All original parts either intact or available, in near museum condition. Not perfect, but in excellent condition (gaskets, etc,in great condition). - Repainted with original COLORADO color (acrylic) 8 years ago. - Driver's seat needs reupholstering. - Currently on 13" "reversed" BMW wheels on new tires. - Original 13" wheels with chrome hubcaps available - Taking offers. tomp_pa82@jippii.fi
  13. Way to go, Bruce. That car is such a beauty. I took pictures of it a week ago. -Raine
  14. It's a '76. I got the rubber cover off but there's a square plastic cover under it and the hole in it is too small for the 22 mm socket. Does it need to come off, too? (I found the instructions that were pasted in the first posting.)
  15. After removing the outer rubber layer from the four-spoke wheel, the plastic cover under it has a hole with access to the nut, but the 22 mm socket won't fit in it. Do I have to somehow remove the plastic cover and how? Or what? Thanks. -Raine Depending on which year '02 you have, there are different ways to get the cover off of the steering wheel. Check your service manual for more information. Using a 22mm deep socket (a 7/8-inch socket also will work), remove the nut holding the steering wheel onto the steering column.
  16. The picture was taken at the 2010 V@V and I'm using it in a club newsletter. Is it David Browen's car? Thanks. -Raine r dot mantysalo at comcast dot net
  17. I checked into the part at local Audi dealer and was told that only ONE PAIR existed in British Columbia at a VW dealer. I called but he wouldn't sell. Why?
  18. They look like they were meant for the bumper, same color and flush appearance .... and the diameter of the hole in the bumper rubber strip (after you remove the license plate holder from '74-on 02s) is 7/8" in diameter. So the 7/8" plug fits perfectly. -Raine
