  1. Try this one: http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/secrets-surface-rust-removal-revealed-55679-2.html
  2. I like it. Simple. Could you post a picture of it close up? I am wondering how it looks with the gasket. Thanks in advance.
  3. The press-in studs that carry the rear of the diff for my car are rusted beyond reuse and I am looking for a source of new ones. New ones come with the crossmember and I don't want to spend that much! All I find are wheel studs and they are too large. Anyone know a source or have two extras they would sell? Or, do I just weld two new bolts to the crossmember?
  4. I am glad you bought that one! I was looking at it but if I bought it my wife would have made me live in it. Where in Wisconsin are you located? I may have some parts that can help. I look forwad to seeing it rise again! It looks like you have some welding ahead of you.
  5. Thanks for putting the info together. It looks like I will be taking my two finished ones apart, I looked closer at the others I have and it looks like I have one of each! Oh, well, it's going to be a long winter. Maybe even pull all this and pictures I get and turn it into a construction FAQ.
  6. I recently took two sets apart and being a dumbass I assumed they were all the same. Well, after eight ends I was left with three washers. I tried reassembling them with the washer but could not get the clip on the other side. After searching through a lot of posts it seemed that they are not necessary so I left them out - I guess I will find out next spring if this a problem!

  8. I listed a 1600 close to your price on flea bay. It is on your way to Door County for the fall colors.
  9. Armond, Did my email go through?? Tim
  10. Have a look at this link: http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/secrets-surface-rust-removal-revealed-55679-2.html Tim
  11. Ratty for sure. Classic???? Definitely collecting dust! Raid Turbo - I think its 350mm. Let me know if interested. Tim
  12. This car was for sale two or three years ago for 10K! The next year it was listed again with no price so I called and it was down to 9K. As a local example I just bought this one: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,344953/ It is in about the same shape and all original 1600 - although I put different wheels/tires on it - I drove it half way across Wisconsin (I was a bit worried when the owner said it had not travelled more than 20 miles in one trip since 1982). I probably paid too much for it but I am a sucker for 1600s. Tim
  13. It was me!!! The brakes are being serviced now and will pick up tomorrow or next day. It is a very nice car for the midwest. Only thing is some rust around the rear jack points. VERY original. Hope it will not be an eventfull trip home. It has hardly been driven since 1982! I am bringing a set of wheels/tires to put on as the existing are pretty bad. Tim
  14. http://wausau.craigslist.org/cto/1849626298.html Has anyone looked at this one? I will be near Stevens Point in a few weeks and will have to check out the "little rust" if it is not sold.
  15. I have a set of Bilstein Sport shocks that were on a car I purchased and would like to trade for a set of HDs. I don't think these were used much as the p.o. stated he was going to track the car but never got around to it. I would like to trade for something in comparable shape. The stickers on them have the following numbers: front, f4-p30-0025-h0 - rear, f4-b46-01.18h1 thanks Tim
  16. I have a 68' 1600 I am rebuilding and picked up a rusted out 75' 02. I am planning to swap the entire drivetrain. However, as I pull the 75' front suspension apart some pieces are damaged more than the 1600s (which has its own damaged subframe). The question is are the suspensions the same or is the 75' better or stronger or can I mix and match in the front? I know the rear is a different story. Thanks in advance Tim
  17. Has anyone done an 02 dash with it? Would love to see photos.
  18. Hi all, I am new here. I haven't made a real post yet as I have always found the question I had already answered! But this one has me. For starters, I brought home a 68 1600 last fall and have been taking it apart (vin 1563956). It came from California and then sat for 12 years or so. The p.o. did nothing with it and could only tell me it had a rebuilt 2L in it and the clutch did not work. Upon getting everything out now the rod to the clutch fork is missing and a new 228mm clutch has been put in (still has white sticker on it). I assume they gave up as the mechanical clutch mech. did not work with the new fork? Soooo, finally, my question is: can the mechanical clutch rod work with this type of fork? Or should I switch to the hydraulic one? I have searched this and found nothing to make me feel good. It sounds like I should just replace the whole driveline as it has the three donut drive shaft. I have a line on a 68 2002 parts car not too far from me but not sure if I should go for a newer one? Any and all help is appreciated.
  19. http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/1691808528.html Sure hope he is not asking 10K for it.
  20. http://duluth.craigslist.org/cto/1682511521.html What a shame. Mabe could use it to plow snow?
  21. http://appleton.craigslist.org/cto/1664130283.html Anyone need a good field car, whatever that is?
  22. WOW, glad I saw this one, it sure makes me feel better about what I paid for mine!
  23. I'd be interested. Also, I don't think you can do a multi-color line in AutoCAD. It would have to stop and start as a different color. Tim
