  1. Could you please send a clear close up pic of the trunk roundel to: penth2o_1@charter.net Does it have the raised lettering. Thank you for your time. Joel.
  2. Listen to your mechanic. They were made to function dry. It is when they get old and the packing is gone when folks grease them to make them slide better. Couple of pics of NOS in the bag cables. EDIT: Forgot to mention... if you can find the original NOS sunroof gaskets get those also. The repops are just as cheap as the repop cables are.
  3. Great site Steve. I don't see any BMW bike parts though... What's up with that? Nice site but I don't plan on using it. I'm old fashion and I'd miss the chance to rip on you when we talk. Good luck with the site and don't forget us peons when you turn corperate.
  4. Here are the four I have. Your right, you cannot go wrong with any Beemer bike. You will get a lot of opinions but get the one you think you want depending on what type of riding you want to do and how much & how far. Time will tell if it was right. If not, get another type. R, RS, GS, /2, /5, /6, /7 whatever... You can't go wrong if you use it for what it was intended for. One tip may be to stay away from the 74's as the trannies had a weak link and most folks were replacing them with the 75 trannies. Couple links for ya... http://vintagebmw.org/v7/forum?p=5413&highlight=&sid=9c14a1dcb857987beb373081e36f53e6 http://www.advrider.com/forums/index.php http://marketplace.ibmwr.org/ http://www.bmwmoa.org/ http://motorcycle.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=mcy&fil=&itm=bmw&state=&ps=&pe=&ys=&ye=&so=d&submit=+GO+ And of course get with your Dealer.
  5. Is the steering wheel in good shape? If so, any way of sending pics to penth2o_1@charter.net Thanks.
  6. "..The car is about 50 miles from me but I don’t really want to say where because I’m afraid someone will outbid me on it and ill loose the opportunity..." FastE. If you need someone to check that out with you just give a call. I'm in your neck of the woods. I can give you an honest opinion without your fear of someone else buying it out from under you. I'm not interested in regular 02's. I have all the projects I need till my death. It may not even be worth the 5K your hoping to get it for. Just saying.
  7. i honestly dont have any ues for a 2002. i live in northern michigan, daily driving a classic car like that around here doesnt seem morally right to me regardless of what i have to pay for it. Unquote.. Where in Michigan??? I live in northern Michigan and it seems very morally right to me.
  8. ... also good for the tax collector. Corporate profits receive a lot of attention, but what receives less attention are the corporate taxes paid on corporate profits. And here are the top 10 biggest Corporate Dirtbags. Who woulda thunk to be number one eh???
  9. Hi Matt. If you have two of the Tii left I would like to purchase them. Thank you for your time. Joel. penth2o_1@charter.net
  10. Oils, oil and it is cheap. These days I think it's all the same and not worth arguing about. Pick one and stick with it. I have only used Kendall 20/50 in the Tii and the R 75/6 motorcycle. Change it every 2,500 or 3,000 & yer good to go. I did notice some burned/broke down quicker than others with my other cars.
  11. Been wondering bout you since I met you old guy.
  12. Here we go again. I would have thought they would be sued into bankruptcy by now. He STILL has not gotten his paint guy into rehab. The rest of the story. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,330020/highlight,/
  13. Something to live for... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8Ne6LSSHzg&feature=related
  14. Wish I collected them. This one does look good and the price is right I would think. I thought I remembered someone on here that collected these so I figured I'd post.
  15. Wasn't there someone on here that collected these??? http://www.thesamba.com:80/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1092990
  16. Nice shots. Two beautiful rides. My brother had a 71 Europa & I would love to find one now. What years did he mention to stay away from and why???
  17. How you doing John. Haven't seen your name for a while. Probably see tons of these over there and Italy eh? I think it will turn out right when I get it done. Check these crazy Bastards out: Circumnavigating the Mediterranean - 6 friends - 6 Motobecanes. 15 countries - 15000km - 4 months... http://lacroisierebleue.over-blog.com/
  18. Hi Guys. Just got her home last night. It is a 1959 Motobecane AV88. I'm having a Bitch of a time finding any info on this. I'm finding myself brushing up on my French and hanging out over there as that's where they were made and all the serious Motobecane sites are. Wish I could find a site like this or gurus like you. I cannot even find a paint code for this bastard let alone a parts manual. If any of you know anything about these please feel free to email me. Thank you. nt nt I got it from a kid that got it from his grandfather. He took the motor out and the chain guards & wanted to restore it. That was four years ago and has not touched it since. (Thank God). The folks are selling the house and moving so up for sale goes the moped. nt I got it home and am assessing the damage. From what the French tell me it is the most complete early one they have seen in a long time. That's why I bought it. It was complete, just the way he got it from his grandfather. I feel a lot better as I found this guy. I have contacted him and we will be talking soon. He seems to have some resources and knowledge of this beast as his looks pretty good.
  19. 4X or anyone else running the fields. Has anyone ever run across one of these??? You can always tell by the intergrated fog lights into the front mask. No other car has them from the time back then. Thanks. penth2o_1@charter.net nt nt
  20. Here is a pic of the one I picked up this summer. Kinda funky but kinda neat. I collect air cooled.
  21. Give ya all you want. Hope things are good with the family and yourself. Don't let that 02 sit too long behind the shed. I'm sure it lost it's place in the garage. I'll check with ya next year. If it's still out there than I'm coming down to steal it as that is too long for an 02 to be on it's own.
  22. That was a good one. I remember that one. Here is an all time favorite of mine. When I was young growing up we lived and use to ride dirt bikes around the G.M. Provings Grounds in Milford Michigan. We would watch a lot of the testings whether it be the swamps or 45 degree banks. Check this one out. http://www.archive.org/details/Corvairi1960
  23. Can you email me for the stock steering wheel if it is in great shape and for a 74 + Thanks penth2o_1@charter.net
