  1. Thanks for letting me know to get in touch with you. Email sent! Best, Jerry PS: I'm somehow amused this thread has gotten 50+ views.
  2. In all seriousness, if you decide against them....I'd LOVE to purchase them. I've been looking for those in black for a long time. Regards, Jerry jwcurryATyahooDOTcom
  3. Inefficient does not equal grifter. You are a slanderer. Not that some of the rhetoric hasn't brought it out of you. I would have to have had money deliberately TAKEN from me.....not slow delivery w/ poor communication before I'd call someone that name. For shame.... Jerry
  4. In my opinion, the price of 02's have been slowly, but surely....rising. The price for tii's is increasing fairly strongly. Jerry
  5. I don't know anything about the starter but the seller is Mike Hannigan....consider it VOUCHED. He's a quality seller and knows a lot about 02's. I wouldn't hesistate to purchasre this or any other item from him. In fact I have purchased from him....and am now, watching this item. Jerry
  6. Sure....worth it for just the frames. You are going to need a full upholstery job anyway, including the support foam. Make sure the frames aren't rusted away. Likely, they'll be covered in surface rust so, I bet they'll need prepping & painting before re-working them. Jerry
  7. ....with my 02. I placed my order with classictube.com, about 3 weeks ago. Still waiting, but I'm in no hurry. Jerry
  8. Could someone that has had a stock 02 driveshaft shortened for a 5-speed conversion, give me an idea of the cost of having that work done? Many thanks, Jerry
  9. I won two auctions via Ebay from him.....and he came through with flying colors. So, I guess he's a bit, "hit & miss". His Ebay feedback hovers around 94% which isn't particularly reassuring. Some of it could be due to VERY slow freight. Perhaps even as long as 2 months. I'm also, not sure he speaks or writes English well....and that could hold up correspondence with this fellow. Course, his auction text and his feedback responses are in perfect English. I also don't think he responds quickly or consistently to emails. He also, seems to sell a LOT of items.........which I assume, keeps him busy. I'm sorry other's are having a spot of trouble with him. As for me, I'll continue to purchase from him. I'd advise a lot of patience with this seller. I'm currently batting 100% with German Ebay'ers and that's covering about 8 auctions. I must be living right. I do know that percentage could change at any time. So caveat emptor. Jerry
  10. ....but, I've heard of people having rechroming & paint done very inexpensively in a large land area located just South of the US border. Might be worth looking into. Jerry
  11. .........just like these: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ZQ5M-SKT/whcosmic2.JPG Cosmic MKII wheels. I also found a place that sells brand new centers and I have a set of 8 of those, along with new clips. I'm looking quite forward to refurbishing these wheels and putting them on an 02. I've always loved these wheels and think they are really period looking. Where to find them? Hmm....word of mouth, other O2'ers, a WTB post on 02 boards, Craigslist, and Ebay. Also, have a look at the MG/Triumph/Mini boards too. Seriously....not much help, but I found mine via PacNW o2'ers. They aren't easy to find. Jerry
  12. http://eugene.craigslist.org/car/210839668.html Take a look at the above Craigslist FS ad. I have NO affiliation w/ this car or seller. However, it looks like a red interior. It's a 1976 and it's an automatic. All of this makes sense that it might have been one of the fabled, last 02's off the line with the special red interior. Wonder what the VIN is? Jerry
  13. .....I'd rather have an NSU TT. Also, rear engined and very cool. I love NSU's. Jerry
  14. I've bought a few parts from him over the years. I'll chime along with everone else, and recommend him w/out hesitation. Jerry
  15. Are you in the Portland area? .......and if you are, are you considering the white 76 in Canby, OR? If you are in the Portland area, there willll be a bunch of 02 people getting together on this coming Sunday, the 17th. See....... http://www.pacificfest.com There will be any number of folks you can bounce your questions off of........but you'll receive a zillion different answers. Everyone has an opinion and a lot will differ. For example, I'm not nearly as fond of squaretail cars w/ big bumpers as I am of the earlier roundtail cars. Try this page for a decent overview: http://www.bimmers.com/02/ Best, Jerry Curry Salem, OR
  16. Good to see you almost back in the 02 fold. Try not to freeze to death up there in Groton this winter! Get your arse back to Oregon and help me with my 70. ;-) Jerry
  17. Hey cool..... I know Chesterton very well. Used to swim against those guys. They had a very good coach.....think his name was Skip Bird. He's quite distinctive. If I can remember, I'll give you a holler next time I'm up your way. I was just there in June and will be back. Jerry jwcurryATyahooDOTcom
  18. I grew up in Highland, Indiana.....Lake County. My parents still live in Valparaiso, Indiana....Porter County. I get back to NW Indiana a couple of times a year for a visit. It would be good to talk 02's if we crossed paths. Jerry
  19. Anyone have a length they could post for a 320i clutch hose? Maybe someone has got a 5-speed conversion in the works and has a hose around. P/N - 21 52 1 120 306 Thanks, Jerry
  20. Hello all..... On the topic of stainless steel lines, I picked up a really cool fabricated stainless steel clutch line for a 4-speed 02 set-up. Well, I'm going to be doing the 5-speed conversion and I keep looking at this s.s. clutch line. I can measure it when I get home and edit my post. However, I'm wondering if the clutch line on a 4-sp is the same length as on the 80-82 320i 5-speed set-up. I'm basically wondering if I need to sell the line I've got and have another, possibly longer stainless steel line fabricated. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.... Jerry
  21. Are those the folks you purchased your set of pre-bent stainless steel brake lines from? I'm going to order a set and thought these were the folks. Many thanks, Jerry
  22. Thanks Mike.........for that rather definitive answer. I was on the right track.......but you really elaborated on it. Between this and the ignition switch history/mystery, I do say you are in my opinion, the historian of the 2002. Jerry
  23. Actually, both colors! Medium gray in color was used, as I have 3 stock air cleaners around here. 2 are gray. 1 is black. It may be the case where the stock air cleaners that covered the 1bbl Solex carbs were gray. The later 2bbl Solex carbs were covered by a black cleaner. I'm not near by air cleaners tonight, but I think what I mention above is/was the case. Jerry
  24. I agree with Mike....the 1bbl Solex is a fantastic carb. Easy to keep working properly and just plain bulletproof. Works great too, until you really get on it and up the rpm's. Nice pull on the low end. However, admittedly.......I switched over to a Weber 38/38. Heh... I wanted the power and can afford the gas. Jerry
  25. ....my, my, my......but still, if I ever got my hands on a 2002 Turbo, you folks would know about the first upcoming Monday. I just do not have any attraction towards the look of the turbos and it would be for sale the Monday following the weekend I drove the heck out of it. I'd sell a tii too......so, stay tuned. ;-) But still....that's a great project and thanks for sharing it with us. Jerry
