  1. Criminy......my 70 colorado project is plenty. I can't afford 2 "saves". In all seriousness, if someone wants pics and would want to save this car, I'd be willing to sell it for what I have into it. Just drop me a line.....via the email button. Jerry
  2. Hello all, I was counting the other day and think, I've owned 8 2002's now. In 7 years or so..... However, just today I re-purchased the very first 2002 I ever owned. It's an Atlantik 69, Vin # 1666176. The good news is that the car still runs & drives and is chock full of good parts. The bad news is that since I've owned it, the rust has really worsened and taken hold. I think one fender is worth saving as well as the hood and trunk. The rockers are gone. Front nose is very good. The really bad news is that the car was rear ended and totalled out. The rear got pounded out and doesn't look absolutely horrible. So, I do think its destined to be a parts car and I'll let everyone know when the parts are going to be available including a perfect: 3 piece dash. Anyway, I'm glad to see this car again.....brings back a lot of pleasant memories. She's as cold-blooded, with respect to starting in the cold, as I remember. Jerry 69 02 - Atlantik 70 02 - Colorado 75 02 - p.o. dark blue
  3. No false assumption made.......... There's actually quantitative proof. There was a *fun* poll to ban esty. Whoops, I was wrong.....not to ban barely won. There were also less than 40 votes. I stand 100% corrected. But, do you really think the majority of FAQ'ers like the sniping and the fighting? I think people like to know that a vendor isn't delivering. I grant that point, all night long. By the way, I'm not defending Al, nor do I think I'm doing him any good. I can't defend the indefensible. Simply put, he HAS to back-end deliver everything he's sold. Barring that, he's pretty much on the outs......even with me, since I'm now in the queue. That's why I put myself in the queue because even I need proof now, that he'll deliver. I'll miss the $125, but that's a small amount versus what I would have sunk for a wool headliner, wool carpet, recovered Recaros, and a full install. Jerry
  4. Pinepig.......that's pretty funny. Yep....$125 to $90. You all were close. ;-) Glad the FAQ got over $200 that month from all of us. (p)esty writes: "you doing the thinkin for the whole forum now jer"" Nope, just a strong majority......although I bet that's shrunk rather severely after a lot of facts came out. Still doesn't support your lack of decorum though, (p)est. Jerry
  5. (p)esty......At the very least, I've donated $125 to the FAQ, which I think is at least 125X of the positive impact that you've had around here. By the way, haven't been hiding....been here all along and have even been posting from time to time. Once again, I find it an amazing degree of gall to call someone a "piece of shit or a thief, no matter what they threw back at you. I've also admitted what was thrown back at you was totally unacceptable. Sometimes it's just good to be the better person, even moreso when multiple forum people ask that of you. Smooches..... Jerry
  6. First of all, esty....go jump off a bridge as your self-righteousness continues to foul up the joint. What's the matter...not enough drama around here for you of late? While your (repeated) warnings, are useful to some extent, people can/will make up their own minds. He owns a Volvo by the way, that's why he's on the other board. Geeze...(p)esty.....are you stalking him throughout the Net? I'm SO happy we have someone like you serving as the "guardian angel" warning each and every poor unsuspecting victim. Sigh, my hero! But....here's the real reason for my (expected) counter. People will make their own mind up whether or not they want to do business with him. I know I did........ So, in order to back up my own lengthy prose (and defense of Al) on this subject, I *bid* on the very last carpet set he mentioned having available to sell. I offered $125 for the carpet set and well, won. Accordingly, I donated that $125 to the FAQ. The money didn't go to Al. He mentioned via a FAQ thread that the proceeds from this last set would go to the FAQ. Well, I'm waiting too. But, I'm in Brad's position and am not in a hurry to receive the carpet set. I still believe that I will indeed, see it. I will post when it arrives and I'll also post, if it doesn't. A thief is a different beast, than an uncommunicative inefficient business owner. I'd only stoop to calling a person a thief if/when I saw them running off with my property and if/when I never got my product. Admittedly, I'm not sure how to exactly define, "never" I'll let you know if I eventually need to change my tune on that one, but I still think I'll get what I paid for. If not, the FAQ got $125...and that's a good thing. Jerry
  7. Yeah, I reply with nonsense. Perhaps, you meant to say..... with logic, clarity and respect. Hey, one other thing.....could you please come up with some derogatory nickname for me? It just makes your posts even more intellectually deficit. By the way, I'm not behaving in a what anyone could call, a sycophantic manner. I'm attacking your blanket statements and you come back with nothing. Metaphorically, you & I are joined at the hip (p)esty....not the posterior. Your crudeness continues. I'm glad there is some predictability in the world today. Best always.... Jerry
  8. Whiner, you say? I suggest you actually take the time to read and better yet, "p-r-o-c-e-s-s & i-n-t-e-r-p-r-e-t" a response to your useless prattle before responding and hijacking yet another thread. I don't really drink and I don't smoke grass, so....annoyed, I must remain. I hate to do it, but I will counter you every time you do something useless and detrimental on this board. Sorry.....that's not whining morelike, an attempt at housecleaning. A futile attempt.......but an attempt nonetheless. Kisses...... Jerry
  9. Hmm......... (p)Esty.....do you have any idea what the percentage of satisifed/dissastified customers that Al had? If someone left it up to your rantings to come up with an opinion, it would appear as though nobody got their product and all of their money was stolen. That's hardly the case. I have no idea and do not care to venture a guess of the ratio of happy/sad customers that SeamsPerfect had. But it's apparent to anyone reading the FAQ for awhile Al had a lot of happy/satisfied customers. Give some credit, where some credit is due.......otherwise you come off as a vindictive one-sided troll. Having said all of that, I donated $125 to the FAQ for Al's last carpet set in black and I am waiting for the set to be made and sent. I still felt that it was a good risk. If not, the FAQ got some cash. I figure my $125 covered one week of (p)esty's use of bandwidth. "if rimspoke just walks away and doesn't whine and moan about it anymore, he'll enjoy business as usual, just not nearly as much" Nice threat, er...opinion, by the way. Like I bet, RIMSPOKE gives your rantings and trolling a second thought. He'll make as many pieces as he wants too and he'll make as much money as he wants to. Plain & simple. Jerry
  10. Thank you Mr. Rimspoke for your positive contributions to the 2002 community and the vintage BMW community, at large. Also, thank you.......for having "thick skin" and continuing to make (with some regularity) bits & pieces that are extremely useful in the myriad of restoration projects. I also mean by "thick skin" that you make these pieces DESPITE not meeting EVERYONE'S needs, timetables, mechanism of sale (i.e. Ebay) and weathering the bitches/complaints from those folks. I find nearly all of their comments to be utterly spurious and I'm glad you basically ignore them without taking them personally. You don't have to make any of these pieces for anyone but yourself, and I'm glad that you do make them and offer them up for sale in the market of your choosing. I also didn't think you were bitching, just remarking about your competitor. ........and yes, I've bought products from both of you. Satisfied by both. Thank you for keeping on, keeping on. As for the CAPS, I think it's just become your signature style. No amount of grumbling is going to get you to change....you curmudgeon you. ;-) Regards, Jerry
  11. Let me translate esty's reply in a much more civilized manner......sheesh.....using the word "raped"! SO opinionated and such an inappropriately worded response. To some people, who prefer their car to look stock, you've decreased the value of the car. I would look at a car like yours to purchase, internally calculating how much it would cost to remove the fender flares and air dam, etc.... in order to make it look more stock. Given the cost involved in doing that, I'm offering you a lot less than you think the car is worth. and what you are asking. But guess what.....neither esty nor I are your intended market. There are many others who will look at your modifications as a huge bonus and will offer you a premium for your efforts. Some of the positive comments included in this thread are significant indication of that. No matter what we do to these cars, excepting leaving them as close to bone stock as possible, will typically effect the selling price of these cars in both a positive and negative direction. Hell, I'd pay LESS for dual carbs knowing I'd have to rip the damned things off. But, having said all that.........if you like the way your car turned out, more power to you. Nice work & at a college age too. Jerry
  12. UHaul Tap-a-Light's are a quick and easy way to address this issue. Yes, this question has been asked before and it will be again. But, directing someone to simply search for it, doesn't really work because there are always new people showing up here. Also, maybe someone has an unconventional response heretofor not covered. So, recurring threads.....just like the BMW in the crusher/shredder. Jerry
  13. Yeah, but there's no more efficient form of government than a benevolent dictator. ....and sister, you better believe no matter how juvenile or dictatorial it may sound or be.........you'd be long gone from any resource I maintained. However, truth told......Al would have been too. Some of the language that was used was simply, not acceptable. I guess if the FAQ was a bar, I'd be putting together an 86'ed list. Eventually I'd be posting (and drinking....using the bar analogy) with myself. ;-) Jerry
  14. HEH........that's kinda funny and too damned gruesome to even contemplate. Jerry
  15. I love this board too. But, you know this board was created by people who wanted to escape the censorship from Roadfly. It's not inconceivable that someone will create another moderated board to escape the rancorous tone of this one. I could see someone starting a board that is 100% restoration/mechanical repair/modification based. I'm absolutely not advocating that and don't want that to happen. I love having a centralized place to go for information & assistance. But, it has been mentioned that perhaps there's been a lot of folks who have abandoned the FAQ and that's to all of our detriment. You can say, "go find your own piece of the Net which suits you better". But, I don't think that's the right approach either, I'm guessing that the Neue Klasse fellow are FAR fewer in numbers than 02'ers. Otherwise, their board might get a lot more traffic more closely resembling ours. Shrug........good/bad, I'm not going anywhere. Jerry
  16. I'm willing to top any bid on the Al's Carpet....Mr. Pinepig. That is, after it comes out of Al's posterior. Your promise to unroll it and install it in your own car. AND.....you can't use any odor fresheners either for the 1st year. It's over......Al has screwed up, lost a lot of respect and apparently, left the board. Hooray, we all won.............NOT. In another thread, Tilux asks for civility and gets told to go find another board. C'mon people. There's been enough scapegoating to go around. It's another to make me want to pull the trigger on this sweet little Fiat X1/9 that's for sale. I wonder how the FIAT boards are? ;-) Jerry
  17. .........I'd have a ball being a freak show geek. Course when asked by a preponderance of the audience to stop, I'd actually um.....oblige. I'm funny that way.....you know, considering the feelings of others. Jerry
  18. Rendering plant odor coming in from the South. As for your comment on the other thread about how many people view your threads....... that MOST certainly validates your presence on the FAQ board. Sure it does. I think its more akin to stopping by the geek cage at the freak show and tossing a chicken head in. Jerry
  19. Please count me IN........anyway you would like to supply the information. Jerry Salem, OR
  20. Mitch..... Here's another one that's just popped up on today's Portland Craigslist. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/242112496.html Good hunting...... Jerry
  21. ....there's a 1967 BMW 1600 for sale in the Portland Craigslist ads. Its been for sale for awhile. Not too expensive. I got a good feeling about the car after talking to the seller. In fact, I'd buy it if I wanted to take on another project. Might be worth checking out.... being a 67, it would have the very cool chromed dash strip. Jerry
  22. I'll put out a call next time I'm up there. It would definitely be good to talk 02's. Also, thanks for the condolences. One of these years, I'll drive my 70 out from Oregon back to Indiana. Likely I'll be back up there in June 07. Jerry
  23. I just left NW Indiana yesterday, otherwise I would have been happy to help. My parents live in Valparaiso, IN. Dang, I meant to get in touch with the couple of 02'ers that are up in NW IN otherwise known as the Calumet Region. I was up mostly for my grandfather's funeral....so, I was a bit distracted. I'll be back in the summer. Jerry
  24. Good luck to you Al..... I hope the mechanical repair business continues to grow. Please don't be a stranger to our yearly PNW2002 event, Pacificfest Jerry
  25. Damn gawkers.... Keep moving, nothing to see here. ;-) Jerry
