Hey all,

Just fitted my new wheels that I got from Ceylove (thanks Stuart!). Soon I will be adding ireland fixed camber plates and some new upper strut bearings to replace my shot ones. Do you guys think I should cut my stock springs and lower it? Running bilstein HD btw. Yes I know I need to take better pictures of it.

Thanks!

Matt

The rear of your car looks fairly low as it is, but a side view is needed for me to make any suggestions. My avatar picture shows my car with Billy HD's and stock springs cut 1.5 coils. I retained the DOT 2 pads in the rear.

I would say you could but keep in mind that the spring free lengths are shorter than the 2002 you could have a very stiff ride although you have a very cool looking black plate 1600 that a drop would look great and make an already awesome performer even faster in corners.Ive driven a couple of 1600`s and a 1602 certainly respect thier handling capabilities which seems due to the shorter springs

I recommend good TÜV approved progressive springs like Eibach and H&R that can be used with your existing Bilstein HDs.

I've currently have H&Rs since '95 in my Red and have loved every minute... if I weren't wanting to go to the next level of coilovers I'd keep them forever.

Eibach #2001.140

The importance of having TÜV approved springs is that they DO NOT fall out of the perches when at full droop.

Just MHO... :)

the deta that i got on springs came from the Haynes manual inthe steering and suspension section. I havent compared them side by side but iv`e noticed in driving 2 1600`s and a1602 and an 1802 that they are firme r and alteration may make that excessive and rough . TRhose cars already have awesome handling and a tight steering radius but the dirt cheap route would be to try cutting 1 coil from the front and see how you like that but uniformity is better t ry all 4 sides and if that is`nt working try a new set like the previous poster suggested

Hey Matt-the wheels look great! Especially after seeing your car in person, yes, the vintage steel wheel look fits your ride best! I'll keep my eyes open for some 2000CS hubcaps for you. Might want to put out a request too on the parts wanted forum. Good luck!
