2002ti/Solex sidedrafts/Mechanical fuel pump ?s

Gruppe,

Indulge me a bit here, searching has been somewhat dry as to what I'm looking for.

Judging by Max's site, RealOEM, pelican, etc, it looks like the 2002Ti used the same mechanical fuel pump as the "standard" '02. For some reason I had thought it ran a different unit.

Am I reading that right? If I were to slap on a set of rebuilt Solex's off a Ti on an otherwise fairly stock motor, would I be okay sticking with the stock mechanical pump? Other option I'm looking at would be the modded bavaria pump, really don't want to deal with an electric unit.

I am also getting ready to do the same thing with my '74.

Is there a clearance issue with the stock straight fuel pump (13 31 1 265 192) and the Solex manifold ?

My pump looks like 13 31 1 265 192 (straight, not levered), but looks to be rebuildable like 13311252506. Can I turn my outlet on my "rebuildable" pump to to face the center and feed into the center of the carbs.

My pump doesn't have the "levered" assembly like shown in the 13 31 1 260 677 and 13311252506.

I did this decades ago and you also are supposed to have a non-vacuum (i.e mechanical) advance dizzy - the correct Bosch number is 0231129033.

There are others here running twin 2bbl setups that can tell you better than me what the fix is.

The Solex's need quite a bit of adjustment to run properly but they make the car sound like an animal!

Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down.
