2002 turbo´s

greetings,

i have been browsing through the forums here and i haven't noticed any discussion about the 2002 turbo´s...

are they so uninportant? or are they just not special enough?

i do have one myself own it with my grandfather, although i am still young(only 17),

it has been my grandfathers for a long time (20 years or so) and as far as we know it is the only one in iceland, it has the 5 speed gearbox..

if so, does any1 know a exact or close to exact number of how many are left?

and are they worth anything today?

Regards

Kristján Einar

when my grandfather bought the car back then (far before i was born) it was about 2900$

allthough that was alot more money back then..

how much are they worth? not that we are thinking about selling it at the moment, might be used later on to pay for my studies, but i really dont want them to do it because it really is the heart in this "motorsportive" family, even thou im racing fully now, and my gramps is kinda running my karting team (just sealed the 2006 icelandic championship) the 2002 turbo is his love and life :) (gets alot more attention then everything around his house.. even my grandmother ^^)

I have one also. vin 4291206. Original Italian delivery. check out www.sports-car-restoration.com for pics of mine in pieces & www.bmw2002turbo.nl for more info. Hard to say how many are left of the 1672 which were originally produced. Not sure on value.

My guess is that more than half are still around and that they can command up to 30K US dollars, depends on the condition, obviously.

Here are six turbos in the 2006 Palo Alto, California show, most of us have never driven one! Good excuse to go to Iceland!

I own a very late 1975 Turbo. It is unrestored, pretty much in original condition. It is one of I think 180 made in 1975,the last year of the Turbo. To find a good unrusted Turbo you are talking 30 k plus,if you can find one. They are pretty rare, but I know of at least 10 on the West Coast. Here are a few photos of mine.
