dowel location

I was reading a thread recently about the dowels that line up the head with the block, and when I removed my head I realized I only had one dowel. How many am I supposed to have? Where are they supposed to be? I am getting ready to put everything back together and I want to make sure I get it done right.

Should have two. Examine the holes carefully to find where the other goes. I am not at my records to say which hole.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

I used them in these bolt holes in the block on my 121 motor;

Drivers side, between cylinders 1 & 2

Passenger side behind cylinder 4

These looked like the only bolt holes bored out to accept the sleeves.

old thread I know, but can anyone give me the number of dowels that locate the lower timing cover to the block, 2 or more?

And while you're answering can you remind me where there are others, obviously there are two that locate the head to the block.

The problem of trying to put things back together several years later.

There's just two at the lowest bolts of timing cover.

Then there's two between oil pump and block, and one to align flywheel to crank. I can't remember more.
