  1. Hello, Looking on pricing for 67-73 grills, left and right, with the black coverings, and postage to Australia. Thank you. Will
  2. Old thread, but this has plagued my car for a long time. My issue has been fighting brand new rocker trim to sit correctly on new paint using old clips. The body was rust free so I think the paint is too tick? My original black clips have a rubber washer that sits between the body and the clip. Has anyone tried playing with the thickness of these to adjust the offset of the clips from the body?
  3. That's annoying, missed out...
  4. Interested in the full set of its doesn't sell.

  6. Good tips on the tank. The carbs could be running rich, but the smell is so strong (my eyes hurt after 20 min) in the cabin/boot and non existant around the engine.bay. I've got all new seals around the firewall including those water drain tubes, so not sure about the carbs, hard to be sure. Not sure how I could get the o-ring wrong? Has been replaced twice though. The filler neck rubber is new as it's the paper gasket and I've removed it several times. I might replace the short hose coming from the the tank to the plastic fuel line. Thanks all, keep you posted.
  7. Yep, replaced that 'special' o-ring twice, just be sure. New rubber filler neck and gasket, fuel line, all new hoses, some braided, although they only have 2000km on them, or 6 years. Good question about the weeping, I don't know. I was thinking about wrapping everything (hoses, tank, sender, etc) with thin paper to try and identify any minor leaks when driving. There is no recovery tank, DCOEs, and I vent to the atmosphere from the filler neck via the boot floor. I figured if there were any leaks in the seam I could press on the tank and make it breathe with the vent blocked, but the tank stays nice and firm as if it's air tight. The search continues.
  8. Old thread, but I like upcycling. I'm trying to identify a strong cabin/boot fuel smell and wondering if there is a way to determine if the tank seam is shot? I've replaced nearly everything else and despite my tank being in really good condition i used the POR15 kit several years ago when I did my restoration, but I'm running out of things to point the finger out. Thanks.
  9. My temp backup external relief valve has been swapped to a 65 psi check valve which has been working a treat combined with the oil pressure gauge to keep my heart rate in check. Much less effort and nerve than the manual needle valve.
  10. Yikes, hope you're friendly with that MIG, don't forget to clean before you weld, much better penno. Thanks for the comments. Had my carbs properly sorted this week $$$$$ but it drives 5 times better than I had it tuned and uses half the fuel. My chokes went from 33 to 30 and the mains are down to 115, which leaned things right out. Couple more things to iron out, but getting it registered was a big milestone.
  11. I have just completed the same task. New engine with DCOE's. I vented to road whilst I wait for this catch can, which I will modify a little to accept a mini filter: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130953807228?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Although for neatness and originality I would like to plumb the crankcase vent to the air filter of the carbs.... perhaps at a later date.
  12. Finally got the engine running good enough to go on a proper drive. Have about 60km on the clock today. Fair few more things to go, but well on the way.
  13. Yes you need them. Make sure you've tried each set on the left and right side of the car. You can bend the normal hard lines by hand, SS might be a little more difficult, all you need to do is find round objects that are roughly the radius you need and bend them to shape. Perhaps start by bending some old lines to get a feel for it. They look pretty close to me, you should be able to persuade them home, however, the important part is that the male and female fittings line up square so you can get the thread started.
  14. Re weeping, the washer should be an aluminium (crush) washer, not hard steel, unless the threads are tapered and then you don't need any washers. 20psi @ idle when the engine is hot (30 min+) is normal.
  15. I was only referring to your oil pressure, I should have written, your engine pressure reads fine. The oil gauge is a good bit of insurance. My engine is new, aside from the actual block and head, and the high pressure oil was an ongoing issue, which I negotiate with a gauge. Good luck.
  16. 100 psi when the engine is cold and idling is fine, that alone when you rev it to 2500rpm. Viscosity will vary as a function of temperature. Cold and hot are like chalk and cheese. I wouldn't dream of revving my car to 2500rpm when its cold. When it is cold, at idle, it pegs 150 psi, and doesn't drop until the sticky relief piston does what its supposed to. Your engine sounds fine.
  17. Billy sports and IE stage two, all new rubber and I think the rear spring spacers are the thick ones, which kinda shows on a profile shot. Hopefully I can source some of the shorter ones and bring the rear down.
  18. Yep, came from the factory like that. There must be close to a dozen pieces of the early carpet kit, seems like a rather large afterthought.
  19. Yes, I had these to locate the carpet, but the carpet kit I installed didn't have the receiving piece so I pulled them out.
  20. Finally got around to fixing the odometer, took a couple of goes, but well worth the time. Local shop were asking $110 for the job.
  21. What Toby said. Think I've popped the filter gasket and cleaned my engine bay about 6-7 times, after about 5 times you become pretty proficient at cleaning up - I like to use the cheap degreaser in a can as it is pretty mild. I've also had much more luck with good quality filters, in addition to letting the car warm up when it cold, which look like this:
  22. Little update whilst I'm wresting the two DCOE heavy weights attached to the engine. There is a stop on the linkage, but I didn't want to rely on that in sprited driving, a little ugly, but pretty innocuous. Leaving the Bat Cave for the first time in about 2.5 years for our maiden voyage. Ran like a bucket of sh!t, but that wasn't enough to wipe the grin off my face.....
