I did a compression test last night on my engine. I got the results as follows 150,130,155,155 -

The second cylinder is more than the recommended 10% difference on the other cylinders. What kind of symptoms should I be able to see with the engine running comprssion like this?

adjust the valves COLD to 0.006"

change the oil and filter - 20w/50 or 15w/50 oil only

drive 80mph for 1 hour

re-test compression on warm motor

crank motor with strong battery and

holding throttle WIDE open

report back

Or, you could drive 60 in 3rd. It is easier to keep a license that way. Same result. Work those rings hard and see if they decide to seal up.

try a little oil down the spark plug hole-

if it comes up, it's rings.

Apply compressed air to it at tdc-

if the carb hisses, it's a leaky intake valve,

if the exhaust hisses, it's a leaky exhaust valve,

if the radiator hisses or bubbles, it's the head gasket...

if the oil filler hole hisses, it's the rings... or possibly (in an odd fashion) the head gasket...

fwiw,
