I don't know if this is the appropriate thread location, as the forum has changed a lot since I used to be active. I apologize in advance if I am out of place by posting here...
I also know there are many of the “I’m thinking about selling threads” done over the years, but I wanted my turn at one. I have made up my mind to sell my ’72 inka. I have owned it since 2004, and now with two kids and a very time intensive job, I need to part ways with the hobby that has occupied a space in my garage for so many years. Right now it has not been running for two years. I had a spark plug hole stripped on the head, and after a removal and a $700 cylinder head repair (not including the cost of spares) , it still sits unassembled. My question to you, is whether there is any value in a non-op 72 2002? There are a lot of good parts on the car and a LOT of new parts waiting to be put on it, but the body has seen better days. It ran great up until I overtightened the #1 spark plug two years ago. I bought it in 2004, and have put a LOT of time and money into it since then. Would it be out of the question to ask $2,500 - $3,000 non-operating, or will I be forced to put it back together and then ask for that amount? Is that realistic, or is it worth less? I don’t want to exactly give it away, but parting it out isn’t a great option either.
Has anyone faced a similar situation? I haven’t been on the board in quite a long while so I wanted to get your thoughts on current state of 2002 values and enthusiasm for these cars. I don’t have the time, or fortitude to work on the car during a Phoenix Summer, so I decided to turn here for advice on my next steps in moving on.
Thank you in advance! - Brian '72 inka
