Need  some help on this;

I was adjusing it, and realized the main shaft (goes to linkage) was loose on the . I's it supposed to be? it's worn out?

Posted

Yes the linkage does wear over time any idea how old yours is?

If everybody in the room is thinking the same thing, then someone is not thinking.

I took the shaft out, there was significant wear on the aluminum part. I fount an her used one. Hope this cures it.

Thanks for the info!

It's good you got a replacement with less spindle wear... But be aware the "4mm hole" is likely not in the same place as your previous throttle body....

I don't think we really know when this 4mm eccentric calibration was done: is it a stand alone TB setting, done when TBs were tested.... Or was it an "on-motor" calibration of the the 4mm eccentric to match the pump and linkage??

So just be aware that you might need to experiment with D cam position instead of relying on the 4mm rod/stop.

It seems like it's lean no mater what I do. I did find the return line barley moving any fuel to the tank. is that normal?

Posted

No that's not normal, sounds like you have a fuel flow or pressure issue "before" the KF pump?

gas from the tank flo's good to a cup  fine info KF.  the returning form the KF is not moving much at all back to the tank.Could the KS be clogged??

Theres a little mesh filter under the inlet banjo, that could be clogged, the outlet is a spring/ballbearing pressure maintenance valve...that could be stuck...otherwise the KF is just a big 'flow-through' channel for fuel...very unlikely that theres some blockage inside.

I replaced the fuel pump with a new bosch type. seems to work ok, has some grumblie noises though. Ill check tomorrow on the parts you metioned.

Thanks!!

Check the fuel pressure maintenance valve on the back of the Kuglefischer head, it keeps the pressure correct in the head of the pump, and the return line to the tank connects to it, if it’s partially blocked you won’t get a good running car.

here is a pic of the KF output port looks like a spring. with a flashlight to it, it has a very small amount of light gets through.. reall small

Also I did not see a  mes filter on the front end on the input fuel port to KF

Fuel pump is happy from tank to open flow.

After further revivew, I noticed  a rubber O ring on the reurn valve. I would this that doed not belong there. It could clog the small hole of fuel when compressed. see pic..

I believe the return does use a O ring. I know because a fellow member has his O ring blow out and leak fuel everywhere at MidAm.
