Electric Fuel Pump recommendations

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable electric fuel pump for Precious, a '72 with dual DCOE 40's...

I originally installed one of the 'Facet' type pumps back in the '80s, and it worked many years.  Recently, I'd replaced it with similar units from Amazon (I know...cheap!) and I'm now on my 3rd in about 3 years!!!  What's a good pump that'll last?  BTW, I have a pressure regulator, so the pump doesn't have to output 3psi for the Webers, I can regulate it down to that.

Steve, I have been using one of these on my dual weber setup for the last five years and still works. Little noisy when initially turned on but once the webers sing along the M10 you can't hear anything.

Inline Fuel Pump Inlet & Outlet: 8mm, Internal Valving to Prevent Back Flow. Only fit for gasoline and diesel(without alcohol) engine and this electric fuel pump must use with filter. UNIVERSAL FIT FOR GAS AND DIESEL ENGINES: Compatible Electronic Devices All 12 Volt Cars, Trucks...

BTW, it's unusual to go through three pumps in such a short time. Have you checked your gas tank for debris? I'm also in DFW and may have couple of these extra laying around. You are welcome to swing by and grab one from me at no charge if you like.

Yeah, that's the kind I've had.  I've got a filter on the input, and looking in the tank (through the sensor hole), there's no rust/dirt that I can see.  The symptoms I see are that the output pressure starts dropping.  My current pump is only putting out 1 psi, hence the search for a reliable one.

The pump shown as stated is not for fuel containing alcohol have you found a outlet for "real" gas or are you using pump gas? The carter pump is a long lived unit and with a good pressure regulator you'll have no problems.

No 'real' gas around here that I've found :(  That could be the issue.  I've got a Carter on order so we'll see how well it does.

I have been using the fuel from Kroger (Grade 89) because the nozzle fits properly. No issues all these years atleast related to fuel pump.
