“Restored” Tii with a ‘long’ brake pedal

Recommended Posts

What do you find when a wire is run in the inter seal weep hole on the bottom of the MC?  If that's plugged, brake fluid is pushed into the booster.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Well I think you have found something.  How is the bore in the MC?

didn’t open it up yet.
I was kinda surprised by the fact that it didn’t have a retaining screw.  Then my wife Karie rang the dinner bell.

Gents,

I will joint this thread because I am not super happy with the travel of my pedal.  It is nothing like in the videos of this string but it travels at least an inch or two before I get brakes.  I just had it in to a 2002 specialist for engine work.  The mechanic drove it for a few days and never mentioned that the brakes felt questionable.  How much travel is nominal when everything is adjusted correctly?  A rebuild kit was in the box of parts I got with the car so it makes wonder...

So somebody with a removed brake MC should measure the full possible travel of the pedal. And before, we should agree where to measure. The pedal top? Center? Lower edge? The we can say if one or two inches are much or not.

I converted my 1600 to tii struts with E9 calipers a couple of years ago but kept the old small MC. The result is better dose by longer travel. I've often thought about adjusting the linkage to bring the point of brake 'earlier' but I don't know if the light switch has enough capacity for this. And besides, it's a real pita to get to the pull rod.

If your car is a tii the pre-owner may have installed a non-tii MC and that's what he has bought the kit for. Check your setup and parts numbers.
