Lots of parts and pieces there, you have a 'project' for sure.  If it is going to be more than a track day car and you are going to vintage race it, figure out who with and what their rules are.  That can be a really slippery slope as far as what is allowed and what isn't.  I found a video on Youtube of an HSR sprint event from 2017, looks like all sorts of different spec cars running, ditto with FARA.

I am sure it will evolve into all sorts of classes as time and engines come and go.

 

my kids and I have watched a button of youtube races and photo albums from 2016/17….. havent seen any inkas with box flares.

here are some more pics if the coil.  I just thought that it was part of the haltech.  I couldnt find any writing on it anywhere.

What model Haltech, maybe I can help, I can retrieve any software for the Haltech so you can download the tune from the ECU and see how the coil was set up.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

 

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Seems like the owner/car were associated with a number of different clubs (or maybe he just like their stickers).  He has the annual tech sticker on there from FARA.  He also has a Vintage Drivers Club of America sticker on there.  I would send an email to all of those organizations and ask them to let you know anything they can on the car and or driver.  They might give you his name if they have it (or not).  Worth a try.

All the Elite series were originally interfaced using ESP (Elite Software Programmer) software.  Recently the Nexus software was revised to allow use with the Elite ECUs when a firmware update was applied to them.  So unless you know which software was last used with the 550, start by trying the ESP. If ESP doesn't work then go to Nexus.  Nexus has features that are not in ESP like the oscilloscope and electrical loads and voltages for each I/O.

Alot more than just 'sanding'.  Pretty much anything can be mended/repaired.  It is all a function of dedication, time and money (not necessarily in that order).  Good luck with your project.

Hahha, yup, heavy sanding.  Looks like a stripping disk.  Lotsa work ahead, but its my first restore with my boys (5&7).  Let the lessons (obsession) begin!
