General Question re: Torque Specs

What is the correct way to read these torque specs.  For example, does "80+14" mean tighten to 80 first, then to 94?  Or is 80 the minimum and 94 the maximum?

Not the way I was taught.

 

It's 80 but not more than 94.

 

You'll find some specs the base and+/- .

 

If you're really unsure you can look up the torque in the tables (iirc) in the front of the blue manual.

I think that's what we were both saying: minimum 80, max 94.

 

The 'usual' way I've seen, too, is 86, +-6

I had the same question a while back and couldn’t find a conclusive answer.  The one that made the most sense to me was advice to tighten all fasteners on that part to the first number, then go back and hit them all at the second number.  

Anyway, that made sense until I came to a torque value written like that but where there was just one bolt, not several...
