My 1974 02 is getting a new B48…has this been documented??

I was driving my ‘21 330ix on a club drive yesterday - I was with Mike Self and Jim Denker; they were in their 02s.  The B48 is such a great engine - tons of torque everywhere, and it pulls nicely through to redline.

I actually had the thought during the drive - “this engine would be awesome to put in an 02”.  I do think you should make sure the car is reinforced in general.  The stock B48 in my car has 295 ft lbs.  That is 3x a stock M10.  Just beware of that.  (I’m sure you know.)

That B48 will FLING that little car down the road - the 330ix 0-60 time is quoted at 5.5 seconds…and the car weighs 3500 pounds!

PS. Eric King was along on the drive, too, in his ‘87 325is.  The 02s and my car were 2 liter fours - Eric had the big engine.

02ing since '87

Love that bro…yeah the car will get reinforced underneath massively…cross memebers everywhere!!…because we didn’t cut the car up it still will remain the structural integrity. We will do wider wheels and tires..and def big ass breaks :))

car is expected to have 330-400hp as we are tweaking the software, and a bigger exhaust

everything is coming from a 2022 430i…the diff, the driveshaft, the tranny

will keep u posted

Hey, I’m not sure about specific details a lot of custom Work on suspension, electronics is a whole other matter, ecu harness etc, steering column won’t fit so that needs to be redone, engine mounts, new subframe, rear diff also different. Transmission tunnel work also but all that is for my 2002, not sure about the e30

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
