Anyone weld one of these on yet?

I’m looking for some guidance on tackling this piece of the puzzle.

I will be attempting this soon myself.  I have seen someone on this site just cutting off the bottom section(see image) and weld that on.  It seems like the best option for me.  I have also seen someone cut a "V" shape below the kidney.  This keeps your original kidney that matches your original chrome.

The problem with that is the rust behind there that needs to be addressed. I had a bit that I wouldn’t have been able to get to otherwise

This above picture is my work, i cut out the rust behind and primed before final welding…below i also did one like this to save center…

I drill through one one piece/side and weld Thur that hole to tie them together…it’s a tack at a time, I hide the holes on the back/bottom of that little ridge on bottom
