I only chase money pit time soak cars like this when they are on "my" wish list.  Then I can always justify it.

Well, I showed it to Amy and she loves it.  Oh boy...  She already has a name for it, and wants to just scuff it up with a scotch bright pad and clear coat it to preserve its..., "patina".  I suggested we'd have to keep the "SPRINGSTEEN" sticker on the back window, but she says NO!

Oh come on.   It has all the parts you need to restore it perfectly.  Look at that gas tank!  It’s mint!

 

I think Amy is right - keep the patina - get it running and get some comfy seats, and call it good.  

 

You’re lucky your wife likes 02s.  Mine…does not.  She like cars (we have an X5 that she loves, and a 330ix that she loves driving); but she can’t muster enthusiasm for the 02s.
