The Malaga Brotherhood thanks you for saving one of it's bretheren!

Your lucky to have those fairly rare optional bumper add ons! Don't give those away!

Decent grills too! You just saved $800 bux if they're as straight as they look in the pics

Those grilles ended up on our Tii, I've got a line on another decent set though.

The deck lid was apparently ruined by a sandblast shop early in the project, so they ended up with one off an old racecar for the tii, the deck lid I got with mine was off our Tii originally and had about 5 lbs of filler on it, I'll be fixing it soon enough, no need to replace for just some dents.

Polaris silver/tan interior

Either the interior isn't original to the car, or the Polaris silver paint wasn't, as that combination was never offered.  Polaris came with either a dark blue or black interior; the caramel/saddle interior with Sahara, Malaga and Agave on modell 71 roundies.

Those were aftermarket accessories from AMCO (American Carry Products) who made 'em for many import models in the 60s and early 70s--till the advent of 5 mph bumpers killed that market,  They also made rubber floor mats, wood and leather shift knobs etc.

AFAIK all  US spec modell 71s had heated backlights.

Glad it's in good hands....don't forget next year's Mid America...

It actually looked quite solid when it was on Ebay 6 years ago.

Good luck with the refurb.

Hi Les,

Not to hijack this thread but would you happen to have any history on my car? the VIN is 2588314. 1973 Fjord. I purchased the car in 2012 from a gentleman in New Jersey who had it advertised on the BMWCCA site. I believe the car was in Florida before then. Any info you have is appreciated.

Started collecting parts over the past few weeks, snagged a very restorable set of grilles on ebay as well as a bunch of other parts.

Also began work on the body starting with the disastrous decklid.  Looks like hell in pictures, but after grinding off about 10 lbs of filler, it was pretty solid.  no rust aside from surface, and with strategic use of heat, I've been able to get it about 75% straight.  A stud welder and puller has gotten it about 95% of the way repaired.

Update on my pile; I've been slaving away doing metal work, got the nose patch panel from Jaymic parts installed, very nice quality part, highly recommend if you need a nose patch.  The body tub has been media blasted, found a bit more rust in the floors but they'll weld up ok.  The m20 stroker build is coming along nicely, need a few more parts, as well as a transmission, flywheel and driveshaft, but I'll get there.  Time and money, I like every project
