article ..... 2002 buying guide

"Other gray-market variants include the fairly awkward-looking Baur targa conversion, a handful of 1971-only full convertibles, and the stubby-tailed hatchback Touring."

Typically Buyer's Guides are purely factual and steer from such blatant editorializing and whim-based opinion. As a current owner of a 1972 BMW 2002 Baur Targa (and a Hagerty customer), it strikes me as strange that they would promote content that pretty much shits on some element of their customer base.  Me, for example.

BTW I get an offer to buy my car fairly often when it's taken out for its exercise. Maybe there's a strong market for “awkward-looking” classics.

I think they're awkward looking, but I'd own one.  I drove a friend's '79 323i Baur back in the day and it was awesome.

As always, it's your right to have and share an opinion. But not when you're supposed to writing an objective and definitive guide.

The years and numbers of Targas built would have been far more useful info. Just saying.
