RHD Wiper assembly overhaul help!

Hi Guys,

I’m reaching out for help.  I’ve stripped down and restored the wiper assembly mechanism.  The main wiper motor mounting rod and two linkage rod have been re-plated. I have also replayed all the nuts and washers for the spindles.  However, on closer inspection I have noticed that the spines on the spindle shafts are worn so will need replacing.  I would like help with:

1. The reassembly procedure

2. Where I can buy the grommets for the ends of the linkage rods

3. Are the splined spindle rods available?

4. What do the numbers makes on the spindle shafts mean?  One is marked 47.2 and the other 40.8

I have attached photos and you will see the splined spindles are worm and need replacing.

I would appreciate any help

Regards

Divyesh

Hi All,

I'm currently struggling to source the following part numbers:

6168444109 Right side spindle

6168444105 Left side spindle.

I also require the rubber bushing set for the ends of the connecting rods.  BMW still sell the complete unit but I would prefer to source just the bushings.  Please, could someone provide me with a picture of the bushings and measurements?  My original rubber bushings perished so I was unable to take proper measurements.  They look like simple rubber grommets which I am sure I could source from a grommet manufacturer in the UK.

The Internal Diameter for the connecting rods:

3 x 12mm I.D, ball joint O.D 9mm

1 x 15mm I.D, ball joint O.D 12mm

Thanks

Good luck on the bushings, they appear to be quite specialized. More of a bearing actually with a center receptacle that the ball ends on the pivots/drive rods snap into.

Been trying to source a R/H pivot PN 61618444109 without much success but have not tried Wallothnesch yet and, at better than $200 for 1 component it may be time to get creative.

Both of my pivots have massive play/slop. Going to try  to source some used stuff.

In the same boat. How did you solve this?

Thanks,
