Custom fabbed 12 gauge steel can, with the same 12 gauge steel for the areas surrounding the cell.

 

.065 wall 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangular tubing for the structural bracing

Finished the surround with a new piece of 1/4", I need to locate some vinyl to cover with.

 

Put some last touches on the topside of the steel can before it's welded in place, (i welded in some corners)

Wow, I forgot how expensive it is though. You could buy an awful lot of vinyl from the fabric store for that. Or maybe see what mgbgt comes up with.

Nice! Did you leave that foam stuff in the tank? I tore it out of mine, it looked like something that will quickly deteriorate and fowl up the fuel system. Maybe I'm paranoid.
