probably from the DMV i got a post card questionnaire from BMW in 2001,  asking if still had the car, and if i had sold it to whom.

i answered yes i did, and intended to drive it until the wheels fell off. next thing i get a package with keychain, magazine, and something else i cain't remember.

 

BMW also sent the keychain package out to anyone who submitted a photo for the 2002 poster. That's how I ended up receiving mine...

Got mine as a gift from BMW in 2002 for using my picture in the poster. I love it.

 

I use it every day to slowly wear the paint off my lower steering column cover!

This is a mystery I ponder every now and then. I got my keychain (and I guess brochure, but I don't know where that went) back in 2002.

But the car had been in pieces, unregistered since 1992. And I had moved twice in the meantime. How did they find me? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wonder if any of the parts vendors I was supporting at the time tipped off BMW.
