Hmm. Maybe an Intermechanica replica? Did you peek into the deck lid louvers to see if it (most likely) had a VW engine? Side mirrors look pretty useless to me. What is up with the parking spot?

Didn't look into the engine bay. It did have a nice stainless exhaust though. As I expected when I talked to the owner it wasn't an original but he was sporting a Por-Sha registry badge. If I'm not mistaken there were only a few of these produced and most if not all are never driven. Aren't they close to 7 figures if original??

yep - looks like a speedster replica.

I've thought about a replica for one of the completely unobtainable cars - like a 550 (from beck) or a GT40.

but, I'm out of room, unless I sell something.  And that's not going to happen.

This, one-family-owned, Carrera 2 survivor shows up on a regular basis at our Friday car meet at Sandeez Hamburger Hut in Lakeway, Texas. It's pretty flippin' sweet.

Sorry... No pics of the incredible engine. I'll grab some next time I see him.

Turn back to the 356 topic.  This sweet 65 356C (4-cam) showed up at a new Cars & Coffee near Dulles Airport today.

According to the owner's notes it is the last one made.

I was salivating over this 72 911T.  Think the owner and his son run a Porsche restoration shop.

Both pretty.  The twin cam engine is a rare beast.  That's gotta be an expensive car to be tooling about in.  I'm surprised Jerry Seinfeld hasn't called.  Apparently, the license plate on Jerry's 993 is "LAST" - as it was the last air cooled 911 produced.

I have a buddy that just bought a 68 or 69 911, same color as that one.  Beautiful car.  I can't remember what color blue it is, but it is very nice.

This little guy just showed up at our coffee shop last weekend for Coffee and Cars..  it caused quite a stir as I understand it.  Word on the street is that he paid a premium for a very nice '91 911, and then paid Singer to do their thing.  Talking nearly half a mil, all in.

Recent Road & Track has a wonderful cover article by Sam Smith with him driving a "Reengineered by Singer"  911.   Fussiness over tiny details like body panel fitment and door pulls are incredible.    I follow Rod Emory on Instagram (RODEMORY (Rod @ Emory Motorsports).  His place does amazing work on early Porsches and they even added some louvers to the "T" bar hoop for Singer.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
