body and interior Anyone Ever Use Vinyl Wrap? Not For The Exterior....

Thinking of alternatives to painting.  Then I thought...why not vinyl wrapping?  I have a small, 8.5x11 face to my center console, fairly straight just one bend.  I want a gloss black finish...is there any advantage to vinyl wrap vs painting?  Is it easy to apply?  Looking for those that may have some experience in using it.  Here is what I'm thinking of wrapping.

if you want it really, really glossy black, buy a pint of black gloss rust-o-leum, a small foam roller and apply it thick, it's self leveling and tough as nails

When I did something like this.  I did clear plexiglass instead of white and then painted the back side of it.  Leaves a deep clear black finish.  Wraping in vinyl is pretty easy.  metrorestyling has almost every vinyl you need even some very nice woodgrain prints.

Why not go with a piece of black plexiglass and be done with it?  Invest in some hole saws, use lower rpms with a little cutting fluid when cutting out the holes.
