Replacing The Center Link

Any special tips for doing this? I've seen the threads about issues with the cotter pin holes, but nothing that addresses actual installation. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just torque it down to 30 ft-lb per specs. Keep track of orientation/ right and left side when taking old one out and match the new one to the old one. I think if you don't do that you the holes on center link for tie rods will be in different clocking position.

It took some thinking (!) to formulate the question I really have:  Can you remove the center link by itself or is further disassembly required to remove an old one/install new one?

You have to disconnect inner tie-rods ends from the cent link. You need to be careful not to damage the tie- rod end protective boots if using fork separator tool. Have examine the the tie-rod joints ? Are the okay? Are they the original. Best option IMHO to replace center link and tie rods all at once.

Simply studying the steering linkage should give you the answer--the center control rod (link?) has four ball joint connections.  Disconnect those and the unit can be removed by itself.  It is a fixed length and has no adjustments (like the tie rods).
