The first two I scanned again today, google and a fb group reading about Holger driving from Germany with his slicks on the roof rack.Seems to me that he is still well known among the old drag racers.

I found that fb group as well... It would be great to be able to get in touch with his granddaughter who started the group. I sent a message but have not had any luck. These pictures are great, if you have any more I would love to see them!

My dad finally found this photo for me.  The first post-WWII road race in the U.S. in September of 1948.  BMW 328 on 4th St., just after coming through Milliken's Corner at the bottom of the long downhill and setting up to turn right down Franklin St. towards the Start/Finish line.  It was the winning car at the 1940 Mille Miglia and was painted green for the 1948 WGGP, driven by Paul Ceresole of Concord, Mass. and did not finish the race (according to my dad).

Hello all,

Not visited this site for a few years but I am always amazed at the incredible collection of images on here, stuff that can`t be found anywhere else. This is of particular interest to me as like MarkMac I too am restoring an original 2002 race car, this is a car built by GS Tuning and used by them from 1971 until 1976 competing in 58 races in the DRM and ETCC Championships. As is often the case when the cars were current photos and info are quite easy to find, but as they slip down the ranks this becomes more difficult. As with Marks car mine was sold to Italy at the end of 1976, until now I could find no info on its life there  until today whilst looking through this thread on page 20 ( car # 362 and # 382...) I see my car was owned by Lucio Di Monaco and also painted black. I will post a bit of its history shortly.....Alex
