Stupid question perhaps, but...

better to ask before I make a mistake.

One of the "push rod" braces between the rear subframe mount on the body is cracked. I've got a suitable replacement. However, I was wondering whether I could install the replacement without jacking up the subframe; that is, could I replace the brace with the car sitting on its tires. Also, what is the torque spec for the bolts on both ends of the brace (I checked the torque FAQ, but couldn't identify clearly the specs for the brace).

Thanks.

I made new heavy duty ones for my daily driven track car & bolted it in with the car sitting on it's tires, no drama. One of mine was hanging on by a thread ! All good now, I just tightened it as tight as I could with a regular ratchet .

You could do that. If it was me, I'd put a jack under

the subframe and put just a little bit of 'up' pressure on

the subframe.

Torque? "quite tight"!
