Going in from the bottome is not as bad as it sounds. Just need two good jacks and a motorcycle or tab jack. I was real nervous but in the end it was no big deal.

Had to remove the header as it wouldn't fit. Had to put it on once in the car.

Nice work John! Great pics too...brings back memories huh? I went from the top installing Hugo's engine without tranny (no hood or radiator)....was the only way to go for me, especially doing the work by myself.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi there,

I said I would update the engine install with or without conundrum. I decided to take many steps versus fewer. After a marathon day Saturday, I had installed the engine, transmission, shifter, clutch slave and hose, driveshaft (aligned), and speedo cable. There were no issues; a testament to the car... The only challenge was the angle of the engine; the rear was angled down too much; that angle did not allow the 'bell housing' of the transmission to pass over the center steering link. I needed to flatten the engine out; so I pulled up on the rear of the engine. This flattened the engine's angle and with the clutch aligned, the transmission literally slipped right onto the engine. I was pleasantly surprised too.

See pictures below...

Thanks
