Les, any idea what those look like. Wonder how they are different than the US bubble markers

I don't know the difference, other than I assume 1 bulb instead of 2.

I'm interested as there is no doubt the bubble type are way more visible than the regular Euro flat blinkers.

FWIW The original carpet in my '75 and my wife's '76, both with Marine Blue vinyl interior, is a light blue, not dark. I didn't know they did any of the squarelight cars with a dark blue carpet. Guess I learn something new every day. Now I can go to bed, at peace.

i don't believe dark blue was ever used originally for the moulded carpet...i'd like to see a pic of his carpet

Esty,

As far as I know the carpet in my car was the orig one-piece. The car was orig Fjord.

If you look where the console had covered it, the carpet is (probably) close to the original colour. It was certainly a darker shade of blue.

The car had sat 3 or 4 yrs, I believe, before I saved it, so it was pretty faded and dirty everywhere else.

les...the unfaded area of your car is the blue that i'm familiar with but i wouldn't say that it's navy...i thought the original poster was referring to a much darker, navy blue color

didn't he say his carpet was navy blue...

True, he did say Navy.

I guess getting side-tracked with bubble blinkers I lost the plot Esty.

Sorry for the confusion -- I was referring to what I thought was the BMW name for the interior color -- Dunkel Blau which I translated (perhaps incorrectly) as Navy Blue.

The carpet I have is similar or same as 02Les's.

Thx

Wow Les I did not realize those Euro bubble turn lenses were still available. And you are correct-1 bulb instead of 2 like the US version. They were part of the Sportpaket along with Recaro sport seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel with metal spokes (not the Petri wheel) along with some other small detail changes.

Keep on Touring!

How do we know they were "only' a part of the Sport package?

Here are the shots from the touring sales brochure that appears to be a model with the sports package.

Does the car in Les's shot have the sport package? I can not tell. There appears to be some white piping on the seats. Les, do you have interior shots of that car?

Bill,

The BMW Blue parts book shows part #s 63 13 1 354 557 & 558 only for the Touring tii. Max's site shows they are still available.

I am only assuming it was part of the "sport paket".

The interior shot of the car I posted does have the "sp" interior like the one in the brochure.

I like the idea of having them for the better visibilty, and they are Touring specific (the Euro flat ones are not real visible from head on).

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
